joining us now with details, nick robertson in london. nick, this is really a stunning kind of terrorism. what is the latest we know about the victim and the man in custody? >> reporter: we don't have a name for the victim yet. he is believed to be an active service duty soldier. we have very few details about the two men involved. they both appear to be relatively young, early to mid 20s. described as afro caribbean, quite tall. beyond that, very few details. both being held in separate hospitals at this time. no indications yet, other than what they have said about where they might come from. but that is perhaps the biggest clue. their accents do appear to be very pronounced british accents, anderson. >> so, again, we don't know if they are british-born, raised in england. do we know anything about kind of the level of planning of this attack? >> reporter: well, the indications are, and this really frenzied attack that was utterly brutal and going through it for them would have been traumatic experience. the fact that they then stayed th

nick robertson is out front in london.you have new video of how this happened at the end. >> very dramatic video. it was shot from an apartment building where the soldier was lying in the room. you can see there, one of the attackers moves towards police. there are two shots. he goes down. you see the police rush forward again. another of the attackers goes down on the ground. another shots fired again. and the police now have both in custody. >> nick, what can you tell us about those suspects? it seems they were able to capture additional people relatively quickly. and do you know if they were specifically targeting that soldier, lee rigby. >> a lot of questions were getting some answers, too. not whole answers. what we know is one of the alleged attackers was 22 years old. the other, 28 years old. a british born of nigerian heritage living here in london. he was someone who was attending an organization that had sympathies with al-qaida. both of these men are now known to have been at least coming under skrutny of a numb

want to go to nick robertson. of course, the prime minister spoke about this today.k, i know authorities are calling this a terror attack. you just heard what the suspect said with blood on his hands, talking about eye for an eye and allah. it would seem from a base level to fit with that. but do they know if this was long planned? >> they don't. and that certainly one of the things that was discussed and will likely have been discussed at that cobra meeting which was the top level cabinet level meeting between police chief, the head of the army, the london mayor and the home secretary near britain. and of that meeting, they decided to increase security on the bases around the city and, of course, that gives an indication that they are very concerned, that there is the possibility that these individuals weren't acting alone, that others may follow on with similar attacks. although we're not being told that officially. that meeting that took place here, the equivalent to the white house would be where the president goes into "the situation room." that was the level of

nick robertson joins us live from london with the latest.o the video that we're showing, what's the reaction been to it in england? >> reporter: well, the reaction here is to make people aware that police did arrive that they were armed and ready to respond. there was concern the police had taken a long time to get there. but what most people here are concerned about is that the police force are ready to deal with people like this. i think a lot of people are concerned that the police came and they were able to identify these gunmen, that they were able to see these attackers, that they were able to see that they were coming towards them and that they took long. there's a lot of people here that would worry that perhaps the police and britain weren't able to see the situation like this. now people are relieved that they see that they can. >> there were two other people taken into custody today. what do we know about them? what do we know about the suspected killers? yesterday wasn't clear if they were british citizens or not or where they ha

nick robertson joins us in london.i understand there might be an identification of the soldier killed and we know more about the potential suspects. >> we do. that soldier has now been named by the minister of defense, suzanne. he's been named as lee rigby, a 25-year-old soldier, he had a 2-year-old son. what we've learned here that may be very interesting is that he served in afghanistan in a fire support group in helmend province. the ministry of defense wanted to make sure that they could confirm he was an active duty soldier and wanted to make sure his family is informed. now we know a 25-year-old soldier who had served in afghanistan was the young man who was killed here just yesterday. the two men in custody at the moment under armed guard, separate hospitals in london. when the police arrived on the scene, the two men tried to attack the police. they were shot, injured, taken to separate hospitals where they remain under guard, suzanne. >> there has been a lot of talk about the video that was released here and c

nick roberts has more information. nic robertson, what can you tell us?orter: we're not aware of what they have accused of. what we have heard from a british source is it the at this early stage, they say, they don't believe that the incident is terror-related. two men taken from the aircraft, arrested by essex police. we believe there were close to 300 people on board the aircraft when it was diverted, escorted by a fighter aircraft and brought in to land at stan ted airfield. the fact that the police have been able to move into the aircraft and arrest people so swiftly does seem to st. that whatever the incident, it did not have a huge security -- immediate security implication. that meaning that there wasn't some sort of standoff information. the police at the stansted airport the airport, itself, is an airport used for just that sort of event weight. the -- event weight. -- eventuality. it does indicate there wasn't a hostile standoff of any sort. again, the details are just coming in. we don't know precisely why an arrest. a disturbance possibly of s
