nick robertson, thanks very much.g developments in iraq has oil prices spiking around the world to the highest level in a year. and that's even though the militants advanced hasn't impacted iraqi oil production, at least not yet. but there is growing concern as the military group known as isis seizes control of more iraqi territory including major cities that the u.s. fought to free just a few years ago. anderson cooper is live. anderson, what are you seeing and what where you hearing? >> reporter: certainly there's a lot of concern over the fall of the city of tallifer, a city of 200,000 in the northwest of iraq. both sunni and shiite, many of whom have fled into the desert knew isis has taken over that city, certainly raising more questions about the iraqi military, a military that vastly out forces isis. there are been thousands of volunteers. mostly iraqi shiite heeding that call, volunteers saying they're ready to fight. but questions about they capabilities and experience on the battlefield and thou they will be

our senior international correspondent nick robertson is in germany. give us a sense of what is expected to happen. what does the reintegration process look like? >> reporter: yeah. it doesn't have a time frame. i guess that's the headline here. it really depends on sergeant bergdahl himself. there are several components for this. part of it is medical to make sure that he's physically in good condition. part of it is psychological. part of it is to meet the needs of the department of defense, what time sensitive intelligence information can they glean from sergeant bergdahl right now, is there anything useful there. also, what lessons from his experiences can be learned from future situations. so a lot of things there but some of it is going to be as simple as trying to get him to re-engage with -- that he can predict some of the things that are going to happen, that he can begin to take a little more control of his life, tried and tested because this has been put in practice on contractors that have been kidnapped in ethiopia 2007 and contractors in

nick robertson begins our coverage out front live in baghdad today.miles away from where you're standing. how concerned are people about whether isis is going to try to take baghdad? >> i think the security forces here have been put on high alert. this is their sort of -- they've got rings of defense around the city. the reality is isis are not going to be able to take baghdad. we've seen them move down from the north pretty quickly. why are they able to do that? they're sunni fighters moving through sunni areas. it's not just isis. it's sunni tribesmen in iraq that have risen up against the government. other rebel sunni groups fighting with isis. where are they at the moment? baqubah, around this province just north of baghdad called diala province. you've got a lot of towns that are sunni and shia. that's where they're running into deeper problems. that's why the fight is slowing down. doesn't mean they can't win, but the security around baghdad is tight. but what isis wants to do is to circle the city, cut the roads, take the airport, put pressure

robertson. our senior correspondent. nick, who can you tell us?ghters who are increasingly joining the ranks of isis? >> reporter: a lot of them are being attracted in from places like europe or north africa. the call that they are heeding is that isis is an ultraradical offshoot of al qaeda. that is an attractive message. the young men that this is coming think they can get into a fight. they see a lot of the stuff that's been posted on the internet over the last year or so. they are coming here. they are getting weapons in their hands. that's an attractive proposition. her getting into battles. if they believe it's for the good of god and for the good of their cause. it's a very -- if you will, inspiring message for some of these people. the net result is in syria, they've dug in. they've got safe havens and now they are in iraq. they've got a lot of weapons that they didn't have before and a lot more money. the fact that they are digging in and securing areas in iraq, including major cities, means that they are getting stronger éc#uáá uz dig in

cnn's senior international correspondent nic robertson is monitoring developments for us from amman jordan. and, nick from the region in terms of how far isis can go in iraq? >> the concern is, chris, that they could go a whole lot further. maybe they won't get to baghdad this time but there's no one around here that can push them on their back feet and retake control of the swath of syria and iraq that they've got control of at the moment. so the concern is the destabilization will continue. the indications, the very latest information we're getting from iraq right now is that the government failed to even come together to vote on a state of emergency. why? because some of the mps didn't turn up. a political statement that they don't want to unite, that they feel it's too divided, sectarian divisions. the prime minister not a yun neying force. that bodes very ill for the current situation. despite that, the government says denies what isis is saying, the extremist al qaeda splinter group, is saying the government is now retaking control of tikrit, shown no evidence of that so far even if it has. it'

robertson is joining us. i understand there's a lot of activity around the u.s. embassy in that so-called green zone in baghdad, nick. what are you seeing, what are you hearing? >> reporter: wolf, throughout today, we've seen a number of helicopters that normally are associated with the u.s. embassy here flying in and out of it appearing to come from the direction of the international airport and then this seening after dark, helicopters taking off from the vicinity where we believe is the u.s. embassy taking off from there and then when they're getting up in the air, dropping off flares before flying off again. we're not getting any indication on the ground where they're going precisely, who's on board. but it certainly does seem to come at a time when we know these additional 90 advisors have landed in the country at the moment. also this evening, another development on the state television. the iraqi army or air force at least shown landing helicopters at that the-refinery, baijii, the largest refinery in the country produces much of the country's gas for the cars here and also cooking gas. so the government clea
