nicole: one.ments you made recently you see the markets are showing a slight edge right now for president obama. why do you think that is? >> you know, if you look at, i'm a big fan of looking at daily polls and betting markets. right now obama has got a probably about a 55% chance, 56% chance of winning election. he is above 50. historically, those numbers change right around the convention. now, obama could go to 75. he could go to 45 over the next two or three weeks. and so, he is the incumbent. he is at a, advantage right now. he is leading but not by much. and it wouldn't take much to change it as we move forward. nicole: by the same token you noted just that, which any major selloff for any major movement in anything for that matter, for the economy or whatever could have negative implications for this administration right now. right? like what would be some examples of that? >> well, one of things that we found with looking at the daily tracking poll of obama is if you, if you don't see one

's he not gaining any ground, it's romney that's gaining ground

fox's nicole collins is live in new orleans tonight. so, nicole, let me ask you: how are people preparing in what are you seeing on the ground there? >> we don't so a lot of people, laura. actually, we saw a steady stream on interstate 10 yesterday leaving town. a lot of the lower parishes, officials, believe, have been voluntarily evacuated. no mandatory evacuation in new orleans, but in the last few minutes, we heard the first report of street flooding and we have been getting this more and more consistency over the last hour or so. the wind, we're getting gusts of 45 to 50 miles an hour and that is not the wind that is the problem but it's the storm surge. it's the rain and that means flooding, as i said, already street flooding noted here in new orleans and we're expecting six to 20-plus inches of rain. those double-digit numbers expected in just a few areas. but still, that is a lot of rain for the area to hold. >> i know, there are a lot of shelters set up there, nicole. are they full or have people just gotten out of town? >> i t

nicole, what did you see with this storm that's changed that's better organized or less organized?s your personal experience? >> our experience, and we were happy to see it during our flight was the flight from the lovely hours of 2:00 a.m. central time until about noon. at least during that period of time it was pretty much holding steady pressure wide. it was a slight drop in the pressure on our observation. the plane after us would have followed us up whether it was a trend. now you're saying there's high ere winds. we also saw the winds being pretty steady. for us it was nice. it wasn't intensifying at that time or wasn't intensifying very much. the longer we with keep this a tropical storm the better. there's already another plane in there. they found higher winds. as one lane leaves another is going in. we're already lined up. we're going to be in here nonstop until this makes landfall. >> we appreciate your doing that nicole even if it's 2:00 in the morning. remember talking to you during irerene last year. thank you. >>> coming up, we want to shift focus to northerly where

thanks very much, nicole.ant to get to ed rap port update on the storm where they believe it's going and what things are going to be like over the next 12 to 48 hours. what you can tell us? >> recent observations which unfortunately starting to confirm what we were expecting for wind and storm surge. if i point out new orleans right here. there is elevated platform offshore which had a wind gust to 106 miles per hour. the reason that's important, they are at 280 feet is that the upper floors of high rises in new orleans and other places getting close to 280 feet will receive some of those similar winds. so, gusts to 100 miles per hour could occur in those high rise areas. now, in terms of the storm surge, which we have been talking about as well, it's already a storm surge of 5.5 feet in the waveland, mississippi area. and in lake born, just to the east of new orleans, the storm surge is now at 8.5 feet. >> >> shepard: ed, when time are you expecting the first landfall and then about how many hours later befor

and now we'll turn it other to nicole cardarelli from afsp. >> hi, everyone. thank you to start to dr. temkin and the other federal partners here today, um, for organizing this summit and for giving afsp the opportunity to participate in this very important panel. i wanted to start out today by identifying some of the positive and problematic results of the recent emphasis that we've seen predominantly in the media, but also within the bullying prevention movement itself on bullying and suicide and the link between the two. i'll then briefly present the model for understanding youth suicide in the context of multiple risk and protective factors, although we've already covered some of this today, so i won't go into too much detail there. and then the majority of this today will really focus on emphasizing and offering guidance on safe messaging around bullying and suicide. so over the past couple of years we really have seen a very unprecedented attention by the international, national and local media, by social media, by advocacy groups, politicians, entertain
