nicole: absolutely. 20 years ago there was significant legislation passed in the united states that created an office of the state department and created a lot of legal and programmatic protections, so there has been a lot of progress and awareness, but where do you see more opportunities. what are those areas where we need to put our focus to continue to combat trafficking? cindy: first of all, it begins in prevention, and awareness education. because, not all of these people that are being trafficked are coming across the border. they are living in your neighborhoods. there could be a house with one woman and six little girls in it, or there could be and is not something that is necessarily happening overseas. it happens right here in your neighborhood, and in my own neighborhood. but, where we go with this is prevention education. starting with first responders, training them on what to look for and what to do when they see it, and how to respond down the road. we have a program at the institute that
