"eyewitness news" reporter nicole brewer a attended a special memorial services for those victims toay. inside firemen's hall museum in olde city, family, friend, and city officials came together to honor and remember eight fallen fire fighters who lost their lives, 40 years ago, in the gulf oil refinery fire on august 17th, 1975. >> it is important for everyone to understand the magnitude of those events that fire burned for six days. >> reporter: it happened near junction of the delaware and schuylkill rivers in south philadelphia. inside one of the country's largest refineries. the that is where vapor from a gulf oil tanker caught fire, resulting in an 11 alarm inferno. david schoolfield was a rookie on the job. >> i saw the the flames get out of control and everybody was running around. that is where chaos came. you didn't know which way to go. >> reporter: one of the 14 fire fighters injured, schoolfield suffered second and third degree burns over 26 percent of his body. his wife niomi thanks god that he survived. >> when i saw his burns like that i just said we will make it rep
