it's good to have you with us, nicole collier. thank you very much. the argument of, this is about remedying integrity lapses and fraud opportunities -- we'll put up on the screen what's in your state's bill, senate bill 7. when you look at these provisions, they say it makes mail-in voting more difficult. no, no, no, it makes it safer by limiting the window and who can collect them, and not having you vote after 9:00 make it safer, because there's not as much opportunity when staff falls off. drive-through voting, again, fewer opportunities for fraud. the less ways that people can vote. early voting on sundays. oh, that's about extra staffing. makes it easier to overturn elections. well, we have to be able to have the state level be able to police the local levels. those are the arguments. how do you see it? >> well, thanks, chris, you did a great recap of what's been going on in texas, and it is a big lie. we heard directly from the former secretary of state, who was in charge at the time of the 2020 election, say that our elections, this last 2020

joining me now is texas democrat nicole collier who chairs the texas legislative black causcus. representative, thank you so much for being here. what do you think of governor abbott docking your pay, threatening everyone's paychecks? will that make democrats fall in line? >> thank you so much, alisyn, for having me, and will it make us fall in line? we don't fall in line. we do what we're asked to do, what we were sent here to do, and that's to be the voice for our constituents. you know, the fact that the governor is saying that he would close down the paychecks of those who serve in the house of representatives shows you how low he's willing to go to wield his power. there's no line item just to say, for democrats to cut their pay. it would have to be everyone just like we heard. it would be everyone in the house of representatives, and those innocent people, everyone, would be cut just as well, and so is he willing to harm those families as well just because he wants to wield his power? >> it sounds like it. >> that's yet to be seen. >> it sounds like it. >> let's see. >> i

from jessica gonzalez, nicole collier, there is a minority and yet they were able to stop this awful voter suppression bill of texas. democrats in the u.s. senate are in the majority. and let's be very clear about what republicans want to do. not only do they not want to investigate the january 6th insurrection were five people including a capitol police officer were killed, they want to rollback the right to vote and almost every single state in this country. and chris, you have to understand this, in texas that bill was going to allow for the overturning of elections based on just the allegation of fraud so you can imagine in 2024 a democrat wins the 40 electoral college votes in texas. republicans could allege fraud and overturn that election just as we know they're going to try to do in georgia and florida and other states unless we have that for the people act. so this is a time for the democrats to act. this is our moment of truth to step up and stand up for this country and we lose this moment at our peril for the peril of american democracy. i really think it's make-or-break,
