nicole saphier.to a hospitalization, or three days after a positive test that's when you really know is it going to stretch out or will someone get over it fairly quickly. is that true and if so what are we looking for with president trump as he approaches three days? >> well good morning, will, and the only thing predictable i can tell you about covid-19 is the unpredictability of it, and while something may be a fact for one person, it's not going to be a fact universally with everyone else. it does seem to be within four to eight days after symptom onset that's when you get an idea of whether or not the person is going in the right direction or the wrong direction. that being said the far majority of people who have mild symptoms only continue to have mild symptoms, and the president is getting a cocktail of medications, all that have been proven to shorten hospitalization stay, decrease viral load, and decrease symptoms, so you know, they were proactive they had early intervention at the sign of

nicole saphier talks with us about this right now. this sort of double dose of bad news, or at least delayed news on that front first from astrazeneca last month and now j&j, what do you think? >> well, so, neil, let's talk about these clinical trials. first of all, it is not uncommon for a large clinical trial such as a johnson and von one which they're enrolling 60,000 participants to put a hold on the trial. most of the time we don't even know when pauses are put on clinical trials. and i should actually clarify, a pause is very different than a hold. so what's underlined right now is a pause meaning johnson and johnson is pausing for a second so that the independent data review board as well as some physicians can actually look to see what happened. a hold is when the fda is actually stopping the trial so that they can do their own investigation. that is not what is occurring right now. it sounds like there is potentially a serious event, we don't know anything about it. an important thing to consider is we don't actually know if

nicole saphier. we don't have the details yet. meanwhile to the timeline.his diagnosis and the doctors have said that day 7-10 are critical. so the decision is being made right now. is it safe for the president to leave the hospital and head back to the white house at this point? >> a couple things with that. first of all we know he is day five into his symptoms and being diagnosed but we don't know what day he is from being exposed and infected. if he was infected at the rose garden ceremony you have day 10. that being said because he hasn't hit the 7-10 mark of his symptoms doesn't mean being inside of a hospital. the majority of americans who get covid-19 don't go to the hospital at all. they are making sure the president's oxygenation doesn't drop and if he continues to improve. he hasn't had a fever for 72 hours. the oxygen drop was saturday morning. 48 hours there. and they said yesterday that his blood work was trending in the right direction. all of those means he is probably set for discharge very soon. that being said, you know, they will keep a c
