here -- we just have sound in from nicole williams.o take a listen to this. >> she work at a local medical center in the area. may have some update on the injuries for us. this is nicole williams in aurora. >> in the town of aurora, what can you tell us, nicole? >> sure. here at swedish medical center, we're a level-one trauma center. we're actually not the primary hospital that would be receiving patients. but because of our level-one designation and proximity to the shooting, we are receiving several patients at this time. we have currently received three patients to our emergency department. they are all listed with gunshot wounds, and they are all listed in -- condition. we have put our external disaster plan into effect as of about 1:15 a.m. we are prepared for up to 20 more patients to be inbound at this time. >> okay. again, that was nicole williams, she works at the swedish medical center there in aurora. again, she said it's not the primary hospital that folks go. at least 20 injured so far. she says there that three patients

nicole williams with swedish medical center near the scene of this shooting. uch for your time. i know it's busy for you there. >> absolutely. thank you. >> we've been seeing images this morning from an apartment building, an apartment apparently that belongs to the suspect in this case. authorities were being very careful about whether to enter because according to investigators this suspect told police that there were more explosives inside the apartment. the suspect, who we've identified as james holmes, a 24-year-old man, also allegedly told police that his car that was parked outside the theater had explosives in it. police later determined that there were no explosives inside that car. our pete williams has been reporting on statements that the suspect has made to authorities. we will continue to follow the story out of aurora, colorado and be back right after this. rommel joining me tonight are marc harrold attorney a libertarian commentator attorney and author nicole williams democratic strategist and michael was a reporter for the weekly standard thank you all for joining us tonight let's get right into it here. we just were talking with the executive director of mayors against gun violence over this is this is a big issue the colorado shooting on average one hundred thousand americans are shot with a gun every year we have twenty mass shootings like this every year in the united states a lot of get no publicity there was one in kentucky just a couple weeks ago i guess with seventeen people were killed nobody talks about it in big cities you get a lot of media maybe they're more photogenic i don't know. the homicide rate of with firearms is twenty times higher in the united states than in the twenty two other than the next twenty two nations the the wealthy nations gun violence cost this country one hundred billion dollars and the states in the united states they have the weakest gun laws in the most guns lead in gun deaths so michael what do we do about

nicole williams, thank you very much, at swedish medical center. an eye on all of the developments at the location of these theaters, at the suspect's home, at the alleged suspect's parents' home in san diego where we saw video shortly ago with his father leaving with officers heading to colorado we believe, and also from the hospitals. trace gallagher is also following the timeline of the event and any new information coming out, including trace, confirmation from jennifer griffin at the pentagon, that the alleged shooter who has been named had no relation to the military, trace. >> reporter: none whatsoever. we are checking some of his background. as far as we can find he has no permit for any kind of weapon, so that will be a key bart o part of this at investigation goes forward. those, just joining us he's been identified as 24-year-old james holmes. he gave up without a fight, it's unclear if that's because he ran out of am nicks or not. wammunition or not. he is not cooperating with the police. he told police there were explosives at the apar

. >>> nicole williams is with the swedish medical center, a level one trauma center in the denver area. she joins us now by phone. i understand you have -- how many patients do you have from the aurora movie theater in your hospital now? >> sure. throughout the course of the events we have received four patients. one of those patients we received a few hours after the initial influx. that was a 19-year-old female with shrapnel wounds. she has been treated and released. at this time we have three patients in our hospital. we have an 18-year-old male who is in fair condition. a 20-year-old male in critical condition, and a 29-year-old female in critical condition. >> you said shrapnel. that implies that this was not gunshots. so this is not just gunshots, bullets that these victims were hit with. obviously there was some sort of explosive device? >> we're really unclear as to what really happened in the theater that could have caused them. she didn't have any direct bullet wounds. she literally had other wounds that appeared to be caused from shrapnel or just from chaos in the theater. t

their spokesperson, nicole williams, said two of the injured have arrived at her hospital in critical condition and, according to that spokesperson, the hospital has been told there could be several more people brought to that hospital. where else might these people with b. taken? >> they're also being taken to denver health medical center, which is one of our trauma one hospitals. for viewers not familiar, a trauma one is a hospital with staff 24 hours a day really to immediately respond. so we know there are at least a handful of people also taken to denver health medical center. we don't know exactly where else people are taken. we know that there are some hospitals that were closer to the scene but, of course, you would want to take someone to a trauma one certainly if they were in this situation. >> this happened shortly after midnight. this would have been a midnight showing of "the dark knight rises", a movie that premiered last night. the movies, multiple theaters at that movie was probably packed. this is a multi-theater facility. so those people would have packed that theate

we want to turn now to nicole williams from the swedish medical center, 20 minutes away from the shooting site, i understand you have three of the victims in the hospital right now. >> we do. shortly after the incident occurred, we received three patients, an 18-year-old male, a 29-year-old male and a 20-year-old female. all three presented in critical condition with gunshot wounds. the 18-year-old male, we're pleased to say that he's been treated and release. right now, we're left with the two other patients remaining in critical condition. >> do you have any other information on their conditions? >> i don't know. >> any other information on the scale of the shooting or the severity of their injuries? >> you know, our external disaster plan was put into effect at 1:15 a.m. we were told to brace ourselves for possible incoming 20 patients. we have been told that we won't receive any more patients via from the ambulance from the scene. we have been told that there are people that can drive them from the scene to the hospitals. we're obviously on stand-by. right now, things have slowed down

joining us now from the swedish medical center where four of the victims were hospitalized is nicole williamstal that is about 20 minutes outside the area where the shooting took place. nicole, can you give us an update on the victims that you had taken to your center? >> sure. immediately following the shooting we received three victims that were all suffering from gunshot wounds. currently we still have all three of those patients. we have an 18-year-old male who is in fair condition. we have a 20-year-old male in critical condition. and a 29-year-old female in critical condition. a few hours after the initial incident we did have a 19-year-old female who got in her car and drove here to our emergency department. some of our workers noticed that she did have some shrapnel injuries and asked if she would please allow them to check her out. she what's valuated by our emergency staff, treated and ultimately released. jenna: what can you tell us about the injuries, particularly the two men that you have in critical condition? >> we actually have a medical and female in critical condition at thi
