but it's going to be a nail-biter of a night.e of these races are exceedingly close. >> and history could be made tonight. how hard is it going to be for whomever the next president is to unite this divided country? >> it's a transformational election. if hillary clinton wins, it will be two terms of an african american in the white house and then hillary clinton. if donald trump wins as a republican, what happens to the rest of the republican party? if he loses, does the republican party then become a smaller mostly white blaplace that doesn't know where it wants to go and how it wants to get there. but whoever wins, you got to put the country back together again and that means a lot of high temperatures have to be lowered in the next year at least. >> and chuck, some of that healing will have to begin tonight. one of them has to make a concession speech. >> tonight the most important speech is the concession speech. how, whoever loses, how they set the tone, then, look, later in the week, it's really important for the president

local companies broke records last night. >> it was a record setting night. more people followed and commented about the election. twitter said 75 million tweets were sent out last night. that more than doubled what we had on facebook. they had a 30% jump from election to election. as both candidates and voters went mobil. >> if you want to engage a young person, reach out on social media. >> everyone's posting their opinions on social media. >> that's what the candidates did, reaching out to voters with a constant stream of pitches on twitter and facebook. and after the election, social media is where people gathered to talk, argue and commiserate. >> when you put it on social media, you can get it to a lot of people. that's something that is great, you can't get it anywhere else. >> it's good to read their posts, see what they have to say. and that's really the way that we get our news. >> everybody almost is using it to vent. >> richard craig calls it today's hangout. as well as today's information source. >> but i would argue social media is acting a coup

going into this night where do we stand? >> coming into the night 268 to 204 is where we stood. clearly an advantage for secretary clinton. dark blue states, solid democratic. almost certain to vote democratic. lighter blue states are leaning democratic. we have to keep an eye on those. when we look deeper into the exit polls. dark red states reliably republican. shaded red states leaning republican. places like ohio and iowa, we'll watch them all night. clinton campaign thinks there could be a chance. if we're going to have an early night, clinton starts with an advantage. what would an early night look like? she starts to run it up and we call that one. now i expect florida to be competitive. that was the closest state in 2012 between obama and romney. that close. florida is always a battleground. we go back to 2000, whatever. if clinton were somehow to lock up florida early on, we're projecting to the west. but if you're winning this state big, guess what, that would tell us something. >> what would trump have to do to offset florida? >> if she lost florida -- if she lost flo
