not a good month you know what managed to defy the gravitational pull of the averages nike yet nike wasp 8.8% the best performance in the s&p 500 and dow jones. yet, the sneaker and athletic apparel kingpin saw the stock jump to a new all-time high in the wake of a spectacular quarter. the most impressive part, they enjoyed numbers in the middle of a horrific pandemic at a time so many retailers carry the merchandise, total disarray. a lot clothes. we bought nike for the travel trust two weeks ago and followed moves by the actionalertsplus.com these numbers made me look like a genius for a couple minutes. seriously, this was the kind of quarter that takes your breath away they delivered 10.9 billion in sales and 9 billion. that's stunning. 95 cents per share more than double the 47 cent number and the commentary in the conference call was somehow better than the numbers so you know this stock market had been up 200 to 300, this stock would have been at 137, maybe 140 to really get your head around this quarter, you need to understand the setup i tell you that we don't care where a stock

shows the nike training club and the nike running club app are actually more downloaded than the peloton and wide margin. they're in the top ten of all apps that are downloaded in the united states. that's been true for over five years. nike has incredible amount of digital engagement that they're turning into sales that's hard to do for other brands but they're going to try no doubt. >> that's interesting. kind of reminds me how lululemon acquired mirror, right maybe that's a play for digital channel to increase sales. do you think that we could see more mna in this area? what about nike? could it acquire a connected fitness company to follow that model? >> well, you know, i think lululemon, a lot of the companies have the same idea they want to connect digitally with consumers and build their own audiences. they can't rely on the mall to bring consumers and department stores to bring them consumers they want to do it themselves. they are figuring out a way to connect with consumers beyond having an instagram feed or twitter or something like that and so i think we're going to continue

it's amazing how off the analyst community was off when it comes to nike. they were expecting a ten times bigger decline than what they actually posted. >> yeah. what i will say is these same analysts missed it on the downside a couple quarters ago it's been a hard one to gauge. with that said, i think across this desk we've been very bullish in nike. this is a stock that seems to be impervious to the broader market and what's going on in china if you look at the numbers, sg and a was much better. their inventory build was up about 15%, but that's offset by their sales growth the only thing you can say negative about nike at these levels is valuation. but that's what you've been able to say for the last couple of years. literally, ever since that little bit of a hiccup in terms of the stock price around the colin kaepernick news a couple years ago, this stock has been a monster. i think you stay long against the previous high, which i think was 120 and change. >> this has been one bright spot in retail for sure they're selling the exact right things at the
