>> yeah, look, there's a lot of different pieces moving right now with nike. because you have this transition or kind of this intersection between lifestyle and performance right now. and the problem is that they're falling short on both. so on the performance side, you have a lot of competition and different competition. hoka, smaller brands out there. on the technical side that have no question taking share. on the lifestyle side, nike is pivoting where you have historical franchises like jordan, like the dunks, which had been generating consistent double digit growth, but the consumer is now pivoting to other brands. so nike is working on franchise management, as well as refacing innovation, but right now, you're in -- i would call it the in between period for both. and from an execution perspective, it has absolutely not been flawless. the next leg is the transitional two quarters of franchise management with the potential for reacceleration of growth as we move into 2025. but it's a big if at this point. >> i always enjoy our catch-ups. that's matt boss,

starbucks and nike, the standouts.over to you. >>> we are getting economic warnings from the chicago fed president, now what did you hear, steve? >> in comments that sound like a fed president want to cut interest rates pretty soon the chicago fed president morning that the fed has to be careful not to stay too tight for too long. talking to npr he said you don't want to be tighter longer than you have to and the reason my is if you are afraid the economy is overheating this is not what overheating looks like to me. we have had mixed signals with the economy. member the jobs and unemployment numbers were up, housing this morning coming out week, jobless claims have been moderate, not sending much of a warning signal and retail sales were strong. all of that combining our rapid update before housing came out, but before it was compiled, 2.4%, for the third quarter. the probability of a rate cut in september reflecting uncertainty about the economy. 73% for the rate cut in september at 27% for the 50 because of strength

footlocker's relationship with nike seems to have improved. nike needs them more than nike thought.hat is important. at the end of the day footlocker is a turnaround story that will take more quarters to unfold, but it will unfold. the stock may have gotten ahead of itself over the summer, one reason we sold from the charitable trust, but i think this is a buyable dip. the parent company of tommy hilfiger side stock slide. slightly higher than expected sales paired with a monster 72% earnings beat off of 229 basis. the problem is that the guidance for the current quarter was completely mystifying and outright bad for that matter. we expect sales to be down six or 7%, worse than we thought. it is brutal. pph typically guidance is conservative, but given that the stock has been flat over the past 12 years with no strategic plan that i have confidence in, i can't blame anyone for selling it. it is starting to really bother me. finally, bath and body works, the struggling retailer reported another bad quarter. revenues missed and the only earnings came in just a penny better than expect

. >> let's talk about nike. nike is a great example of a brand that only sells excessive inventory in their outlet stores, that's it. they're not manufacturing anything. >> it's a cheaper version. >> yeah, i think that every brand in outlet uses outlet for distribution in a completely different way. you've got brands like lululemon that only sells excess inventory, and nike only selling so customers going in, it's not fun to shop in a store when your run rungs are broken and they only have shies 2 and 15. so they're taking inventory of fabric that they're cutting up, using their best styles, putting them in a new fabrication and putting them in the stores and they sell. what is is the likelihood of lower interest rates going to mean to you and your business? >> from a consumer perspective, it puts more money back into the hands of the consumer, which is always good for us in the shopping business. but we're a growth company. we've got a great balance sheet. so it gives us better access to capital. in the fourth
