nikki? >> reporter: that's right. we're expecting to learn more about these charges coming against jesse matthew later this morning in a press conference out of charlottesville. sources with our sister station in richmond tell us jesse matthew will face murder charges in the death of uva student hannah graham. we don't know specifically what evidence led them to this charge but this is what we can tell you so far. matthew was first charged with abduction with intent to defy in graham's disappearance. is in fairfax county being held on a separate case facing attempted capital murder and sexual assault in the attack of a fairfax county woman back in 2005. his trial for that charge isn't until march. those charges again not related to the graham case. however, graham was last seen leaving a charlottesville bar with matthew in september of last year. her remains were later found in albemarle county just five miles away from where the remains of morgan harrington were found, the virginia tech student who disappeared from c

good morning nikki. >> reporter: good morning.t's right we heard from a lot of frustrated firefighter union officials and paramedic union leaders yesterday in a hearing with d.c. council. who say it's not just problems with communicating inside metro tunnels, like the one here at l'enfant plaza. but it was also problems throughout d.c. buildings in down on the. now -- downtown. now we heard from the head of the paramedics union who said think actually missed some emergency runs because the calls don't show up on the displays. it's not what happened in the response here at the plaza and metro however it was a 13 minute time lag between the first report of fire and the actual dispatch. the reason for the wait time though is still under investigation. the fire union does say they think a firefighter should be assigned full-time to metro's control center to help get a jump-start on any problems that might arise. but the biggest issue they see when they go out on these emergencies is a lack of communication. their radios just don't wor

good morning, nikki. >> reporter: good morning. yes, disturbing to think about what this traveling nurse jared kline is accused of doing but he is expected to be in court at 9:30 for a hearing. we are hearing he could be offered a plea deal. first let me give you a little bit of background on this case. jared kline is accused of groping, fondling and kissing at least three women at three different hospitals in the area, united medical center, george washington university hospital, and med star washington hospital center. he was a traveling nurse from falls church. he was contracted out as a freelancer to these different hospitals. one of these women also says she was asked to touch his genitals and she also received unwanted text messages from kline. that is what today's case is involving. it stuns out there is also a -- it turns out there is also a warrant out for his arrest in prince george's county. we will be in the courtroom and tweeting updates about what happens today and we'll also be on our wusa9 app. back to you in the st

nikki burdine is in silver spring with more on this. nikki? >> reporter: that's right. an incredibly scary but incredibly brave story from this young woman who is now talking to the media. she spoke to our reporter mola lenghi last night. she said this all happened on wednesday night in these apartments off of new hampshire avenue. she says a man came first attacked another woman. he exposed himself to her and then he went into another building at this apartment complex and attacked this woman. that young woman says a man came up to her, tied to offer her money. she says he was slurring his speech and speaking in spanish. then he started smoking marijuana right in front of her. he pushed her up against the wall in the foyer of the building. she fought him off but then he pushed her to the ground and ripped her pants off. she didn't give up, though. she jeeped, kicked and fought him off which scared him away. this is what police say about how she reacted. >> she did a great job. really brought attention to herself which is what you want to do in those scenes and just abs
