nikki burdine is live in fairfax county -- outside the courthouse this morning, nikki. good morning. >> reporter: good morning, that's right i was in the courtroom yesterday when a judge continued bud walker's initial bond hearing and i was talking to his attorney and i said what's next? and he said well this is all happened so fast. but we will absolutely be filing another motion for a bond hearing and that's what they did and that's what a judge will hear today at 8:30 here at the fairfax county courthouse. now a little bit of background. william bud walker bud as he is known was arrested and charged with possession after the center for missing and exploited children received a tip that child porn was uploaded in fairfax county. detectives say they were then able to determine the upload came from walker's home. and walker has been relieved of his duties but the public information officer with fairfax county police. before that believe it or not he was a school resource officer at south county high school as well as on patrol duty. today again the pond hearing will tak

nikki is live with more outside the hotel. nikki. >> reporter: second woman has been arrested in this case. she is 19-year-old, domonique johnson. she is the girlfriend of that first suspect arrested, it 1- year-old, jamyra gallmon. this is where the two women live together in southeast d.c. you'll runningback that gallmon is still in jail. she's charged with david messerschmitt's murder, nearly two months ago. she is being held without bond. police say these two women came up with a plan to rob messerschmitt. the two arranged to meet here at the donovan hotel and messerschmitt was later stabbed to death. gallmon will face charges of murder, while johnson could be arraigned as early as today facing charges of conspiracy to commit robbery. back to you in the studio. >>> nikki reporting live outside the donovan hotel. new details are coming out about secret cell phone equipment that has been used by the baltimore police department. an officer testifying in a criminal case says the department used the technology thousands of time

nikki burdine has been getting reaction to this proposal all morning long which baker, nikki, compareding in your kitchen or bathroom. >> reporter: it's an interesting equal any -- analogy. baker says he believes in miracles and it's a good thing, too, because it's going to take a lot of convincing to get taxpayers on board with an idea like this. 15% tax increase. that's a huge number. he spoke to a room of concerned taxpayers in prince george's county last night trying to convince them this is the best idea. this money would fund a 133 million increase in the school's budget. specifically to keep young teachers from jumping ship and to focus more on early education. now, if your home is worth $300, you would end up paying about $450 more each year. if your home is worth half a million, you'll pay about $750 more each year. and as you can imagine, taxpayers are worried and they voiced their concerns last night at a community meeting. >> they really haven't gotten to the meat of the problem. where are we going to come up with the money to pay that? overall it's 57% is what they're actu

nikki burdine live at that scene in capitol heights with the latest. nikki? >> reporter: you can see there's still quite a few fire trucks out here now. and there is still a lot of crime scene tape just roping off this area blocking off what's left of that warehouse. you can see there's not much there. we've also seen a couple of firefighters walking around looking for hot spots but it's a very different picture than what our crews saw when they first got here yesterday. this was a massive fire and there were flames shooting from the building. it started at about 5:00 yesterday and the flames went up fast. the winds shifted and that caused those flames to move to the two fire trucks that were parked outside. those trucks caught fire and destroyed. about $1.5 million in damage. the trucks delonged to the kentland fire department and west lanham hills department. thankfully no serious injuries n. is of course something that everyone here -- this is of course something that everyone here is thankful for. >> we never lost two fire engines on a building fire. we h

nikki burdine joins us live outside the cps office with more. we understand the kids are back with their parents this morning, right? >> reporter: yes, that's the good news. those children ages 6 and 10 are back home with their parents safely this morning. burr they spent hours here at montgomery county child ve services yesterday. it all started when their parents danielle and sasha dropped their kids off at a local park to play by themselves. now, this is nothing new to these parents. it's called free range parenting but not everyone agrees with that practice because someone called police to report children playing alone in a park. the kids were picked up and taken to cps by police but the problem is no one called their parents to say hey, your kids are safe, don't worry. when the thirn didn't come home by 6:00 yesterday, their parents were frantically searching for them. when they were actually at cps the entire time. >> they kempt the kids for hours. it's 10:30 at night. -- kept the kids for hours. it's 10:30 at night. they've been missing s

good morning, nikki. >> reporter: good morning. that's right.john geer's family will be getting nearly $3 million in this wrongful death lawsuit. they say that's not enough, but it's not more money that they want. it's justice. this lawsuit was settled yesterday with the fairfax county board of supervisors. geer was shot and killed by fairfax county police officer adam torres in august 2013 outside his springfield hope. officer torres at the time said he saw geer reach for his waist band and that's when he fired. his fellow officers who were there for the standoff said they did not see that. it took another hour to get inside geer's home but by then he was dead. his death has prompted a police review board and yesterday we caught up with geer's dad. >> adam torres is still on the police payroll and my money is still paying for his salary. so that's not the most pleasant thing to think about, but that's the way things are. >> reporter: john geer's dad and the rest of his family want to make sure nothing like this ever happens again in fairfax cou

nikki burdine is here with the latest in this case. nikki?orter: right now police are saying that gray's initial arrest was, quote, straightforward with no undue force required to detain him. but cell phone video tells a different story. take a look. you can see gray being dragged out by police. gray was arrested last week but died on sunday after more than a week in a coma. his family says his spine was 80% severed. the big question is when did that injury initially take place. several things aren't clear at this point. chief among them how and why this apparently healthy 25-year- old man suffered ultimately fatal injuries. the mayor of baltimore and the police commissioner promised a full investigation. protesters have been in the streets and outside the department for days demanding answers. first you'll hear from one of those protesters. then a man who says he heard gray being arrested. >> we have to keep asking for answers. we can't let them sweep this under the rug. >> i heard hollering and screaming, get off of me, you're hurting my ne

nikki burdine brings us the latest from the north lawn. >> reporter: here we go again. another person tried to scale the fence here at the white house. this time they were stopped almost immediately. >> it is really cool. >> reporter: for lucas and the rest of his classmates from ohio their first visit to the white house is surreal. but so is the idea that someone would jump the fence here. >> a little weird to think about, that people can jump the fence. >> reporter: but it happens of the a lot. and that is no surprise to tim scanlon who has been leading tours here at the white house for a decade. sunday night secret service officials say 54-year-old jerome hunt jumped the fence on the southlawn at about 10:30. he was carrying a package of some sort that was later deemed harmless. what is the solution? soon metal spikes and other anti climbing measures will be put in place. the changes come after a number of incidents over the past sexual months, including omar gonzalez, who made it all the way through the front door of the white house. to what end? >> i don't want it

nikki burdine is -- has more. >> reporter: this person is in custody. we are still learning exactly what happened. this happened at about 10:30 last night. secret service officials were able to stop a person who was able to get over that a8-foot fence at the white house on the south side, which is the opposite side where we are right now, facing the washington monument. now that person was apparently carrying a suspicious package. after investigation authorities were able to determine that that package cazenave not suspicious and it was harmless. but still, something to be alarmed by. this fence is 8 feet tall, but as we heard nick and andrea say they are talking about putting metal spikes on top of the fence. it is a shame those weren't there last night, we don't know the gender of the person or why they decided to scale the white house fence last night and we don't know how far they got but this is certainly another incident in a long line of embarrassments at the white house for secret service officials. a lot of concerns about the secret service and
