jim will be a supplier to nikola, supplying fuel cell technology -- gm will be a supplier to nikola.nal deal had gm not just providing fuel-cell but also battery technology, as well as manufacturing a pickup truck on nikola's behalf. sources tell us it comes from both sides. gm looked at controversies in the company. a report a couple months ago hit the rebate -- hit the reputation of the company, and there is an investigation into nikola. gm really wanted to streamline their approach. the nikola, too, changed what they were looking for. they had this sort of charismatic founder who had these big ambitions, very broad ambitions, lots of different projects and products. he is now out of the picture because he resigned, and the current executives, according to off more felt they bit than they could chew, so they wanted to narrow their focus to the semi trucks. they might talk about doing something around battery technology, gm, but that is just talks. beyond that, reputational damage caused g.m. to transition. >> it was seen as a vote of confidence, a charismatic founder and then the e

now they have no ownership of nikola and nikola is dropping plans to have general motors build the badger electric pickup a lot of people put down deposits for a badger truck, they said it looks exciting, sexy they have to refund those deposits that's $6.9 million. really, this was more of a distraction and once trevor milton was out of the picture it was clear the badger was not going to be built. the focus for nikola, the hydrogen fuel cell semi. they have test models now. more next year going to beta in 2022 then start building them in europe and in arizona in 2023. so nikola will come out of this deal without gm having an ownership stake and really with people saying okay you are focused on the hydrogen fuel cell semis and potentially the electric powered semi trucks in the future but is this still the same -- is there still the same investment optimism out there? that's why the stock is down more than 25% for much of today. gm also taking a little bit of a him. but guys this was always a deal that was more important for nikola than it was for general motors you can see that reflected
