a car ran into a creek on niles canyon road this morning. and this morning the person who was driving it was lucky enough to get out. let me show you these pictures here. you can see the traffic is going to be busy as -- well, i will tell you the traffic on niles canyon road is open again and flowing by. it is busy on niles canyon road. it is unclear how the car got in. it is still very much in the creek. but the person, again, who was in it managed to get out. but the fire department is still out there. the fremont fire department was recently flying a drone over the car. i'm not sure what they were looking for. they are out there perhaps looking for the other person who was involved in the crash over the weekend. dangerous on niles canyon road if you're going too fast or don't know the area. slow it down. if you're not sure, stick with 680 and 580 in the area. again, the fremont fire department is still there on the scene. all right. let's move along and take a look at other commutes now. you can see 80. i want to make sure that i mention

this is niles canyon road, fremont police are blocking it off. it is a long stretch of road that connects 680 to mission boulevard here in fremont so this is a very important road and i just got an update from the fremont police department, they said caltrans had come by and told them that this road will be closed until at least 8:00 this morning. one resident told me one of the mudslides is a quarter of a mile long and people are having to go towards castro valley to get out. niles canyon road is a muddy mess. we took this video about 20 minutes ago. didn't make it very far from mission boulevard before we ran into debris, brush, and thick mud. a car was parked on the side of the road with a bunch of debris underneath the vehicle. two people were actually trapped in that car and the fremont police department had to go in and take them out. water was above their wheels. alameda creek runs right next to it but that water was actually coming from the mountainside. several slides took place in this area, one on nearby kilcare road. in fact, the alam

highway 84 niles canyon road is closed between sunol and fremont and this is due to flooding. see the slow downs on southbound 680 because niles canyon road a popular alternate route to the freeway. yone has to take the free -- everyone has to take the freeway and you are driving 30 miles per hour in the area. move to -- moving over to the altamonte pass out of tracy down to 15 north len road. north tracy to altamont pass up to 30 minutes along 580 westbound and south bay now in san jose northbound 101 that connector to northbound 880 is closed due to police activity. there's a chp investigation going on from an overnight officer-involved shooting. so we will let you know when it's back up to speed but it could take while so in the area, you are moving at just about 20 miles per hour. so avoid it if you can. moving over now to highway 17 in the scotts valley santa cruz mountain areas northbound is closed before vine hill road southbound at granite creek. that left lane is closed and this is an earlier closure we told you about it's now getting better and we have the right lane
