major delays on the nimitz.u're getting some conflicting information. >> first, this is because of a deadly crash this is horrible information for at least the family of the people affected by this directly. and also for the folks who are driving in the area. the conflicted information we're getting from chp is we're told on the chp report that the two middle lanes are open at the scene, but obviously from our picture from nbc bay area sky ranger, we have only the fast lane open. at least that is open. that's why you have us and our chopper overhead. this backup continues back to the coliseum, so there's quite a stretch of the nimitz. let's show you on the map the effect of that. that is jamming up the freeway from san leandro up in the area, through oakland. 580 is a much easier route, but because of the backup at the bay bridge toll plaza, that adds on to your commute, and a smoother drive but slower across the san mateo bridge as well. those are the routes affected and the ripple out of oakland through haywar

it was announced just a few days ago that the nimitz is being diverted.l have three aircraft carriers around north korea. they're saying we can shoot down your planes. >> this is a third sunday we've seen a missile test. they report the weapons system is improving because of defects that they witnessed last year. how concerned should we be about the enhancement of their military technology? >> well, they've made some real important advances in the last couple weeks. they tested a heat shielding on their 12. they shot it very high into the atmosphere. it only went about 410 miles or so, but that didn't matter. it went 1,300 miles into the sky and when it came back down it simulated what would happen when a war head was launched at the united states and so it looks like they've got their heat shielding done. this is something they wouldn't know if they've been able to do. all they need to do is add a little bit more range to their longest range missiles and they can hold us to ran some. >> how do you think that this changes any diplomatic changes or efforts
