we'll bring back our panel, juan williams, columnist for the hill, nina eastton, syndicated columnist charles krauthammer. >> when reagan was inaugurated he said within ten minutes government isn't the solution, it's the problem. and that was the theme of the rubio speech and set sort of ideological contrast. obama is a man of government, he represents the party of government of the every issue he raised in his speech had a government solution, a program, a partnership, you know, some new initiative spending essentially and i think what rubio did, he took it on as a sort of if i have s philosophical level and says it's not the way our country works, it comes from the private sector and made that case point by point. i'm not sure it worked as rebuttal. obviously he hadn't heard any of the details, but i think it sets up the argument, the argument that we've had over the four years and the argument i think that will define the next presidential race. big government, small activist government or activist private sector. >> bret: nina. >> in terms of rebranding the republican party i thin

nina eastton, and charles krauthammer. and the house chamber filled, juan, it's a big night. what do you think of this night and what the president will say? >> well, i think the first thing to understand is how big an opportunity this is prime time. if you think back to his first inaugural, i think it was 52 million people watched. the last one about 39 million. this is a massive audience for the president and i think what you're going to see is the president try to make the pitch for his second term agenda, bret. he's got about-- the historians say about a hundred day window, really, to get anything, in terms of his legislative agenda, set for the second term and about a year and a half in total before all the congressional campaigns, mid term campaigns begin. so that's what we're going to see tonight and i think you're going to see in an unusual step go from tonight, right out to the campaign trail because he's dealing with a republican party that he feels is intransigent. and he's going to i think north carolina, atlanta and then on to chicago to try to build a case for h
