point, the democrats pretty stunning. it's attributable to a couple of things. one, sold it has been pretty masterful at manipulating voter amnesia. really, you mentioned a couple things he doesn't. let's remember also not only did he vote not to certify arizona, and pennsylvania's votes. but he gave a speech on january six. when that capital was wrapped, and people are injured. he's sitting there talking about voting irregularities. he's continue to maintain, saying the issues remain, that's what he said last week in the debate without kathy hochul. he's trying to play both sides of the fence. he's saying, yes, irregularities are concerned, but says biden was legitimately elected. he's being very enviable figure, who's doing real talk about new york's issues and what we need to do here. >> yeah, this amnesia is a key part of this. he's also, he's also focus relentlessly on crime. he's made the case, which is completely belied by the data, new york's bail reform law has led to it. i can't count the number of ads i've seen, it's part of a broader agenda or republican and conservatives, to just basically focus on the issue to the exclusion of all others. i haven't seen a single zeldin ad about anything else. >> that's absolutely right. it's really been brought out, the polling data has been a feedback loop. -- he's getting more traction. he demagogues on crime. and the problem for vogel, she has an unlimited tool to defend yourself with. because she can say, as many democrats are saying, it's not the bailout laws, it's not a bailout. laws but peoples perceptions, a feeling unsafe, certain incidents that get blown up and media and social media. to particularly by the new york post is influential. it all takes a toll. >> it's also the case, as new yorkers, there are certain categories of time -- the people are genuinely pretty freaked out. but, it's also to your point, we've seen this time and time again. it's like the ads, the coverage you are locked in a cycle right now and he's benefited from it. the thing i keep coming back to, he's a cosponsor i think of one of the criminalizing abortion federally laws. right, am i right about? that >> not sure. >> i think, he signed on one of his earlier -- he's tried to fudge that and the same way he's trying to fudge the january six. there's a question of can you basically wiggle out from under your skin, into anything that's sort of on the ballot for you. >> for instance, he wants to criminalize traveling between states for abortion including to new york. more people can get abortions right now if they can travel. absolutely, the issue is that new yorkers feel accurately, abortion is not under threat here, at least not from a governor, perhaps from congress. he's not -- something that hole can get traction. on >> there is a real question, about who's someone like lee zeldin would answer to. this is really true in arizona, with kari lake, if he would've come governor he would immediately be a huge, national conservative figure. everything about his political future, we depend on donald trump. and on that base. much more than it would the voters of new york? >> yeah, i think he's going to, i think it, right he'll become a national figure. i think like desantis in florida. it's similar there. where i do think that if he wants to get reelected he's gonna have the govern someone from the middle. and i say if. we don't know how this is gonna go. i think the ads are still in hochul's favor. but i think he will be susceptible to the laws of gravity here in new drift down the u.s., hitting average of $3.76 today, which is way down from the peak over a $5 a gallon in june. that is significant, not just for americans to drive, but also for the potentially
