so the threat of light nip now is pretty much at about 5%. that's the great news.s we zoom in, you notice these conditions. we do not have hot, dry, offshore winds. the wind's coming out of the southwest. it should stay that way for the next 24 hours. and humidity at 0 -- 20 to 40%. the other thing that's hampering the firefighters is steep elevation at 3,000 feet. let's get a hook at some of this video. it's video on the doppler radar, but the smoke that is coming from 20 to 30,000 feet up, what this tells me from a meteorological perspective is that these updrafts are so strong, that hot air rises that it's carrying this up at about 30,000 feet. it has to go somewhere. and eventually it does create these downdrafts. those downdrafts create very dry, unpredictable hot winds for the firefighters, and that's likely why they saw the huge increase in the overnight hours. overall, we've seen a 1400% increase in the acreage burned in california. the good news for the bay area, we're going to talk about improving fire conditions here at home in a few minutes. >>> our cov
