he was accused of leaving this 1993 nissan pathfinder, loaded with fireworks, gasoline and propane, parked on a busy street in times square, but the bomb failed to go off. today, the associated press reported investigators now believe shahzad made a dry run with the s.u.v. into times square last wednesday to choose the best place to leave the vehicle. he allegedly returned friday to drop off a black isuzu eight blocks from the bomb site as a getaway car. then, investigators said, as he fled the scene saturday night, shahzad accidentally left his car keys in the nissan, and had to take public transit back home. they said he came back sunday with a second set of keys to pick up the isuzu. shahzad has confessed to authorities that he trained at a terrorist camp in pakistan, but acted alone. still, house republican leader john boehner today accused the obama administration of issuing "bland reassurances" that this was just a "lone wolf." >> we've been lucky that we've been able to thwart these attempted attacks. but, frankly, most of us believe that the strategy ought to be preventing such att

investigators identify faisal shahzad as the owner of the nissan pathfinder as their suspect. 90 minutesno-fly list. at 3:00 p.m. he's spotted leaving a store near his connecticut home. police plan to arrest shahzad, but lose track of him for several hours. at 6:30 p.m. shahzad heads to jfk airport. on the way he phones in a reservation for an emirates airlines flight to islamabad with a stopover in dubai. at 7:35 p.m., he pays cash, cash, for his one-way ticket. emirates officials are unaware he was on a no-fly list because they had not checked for any updates during the day. at about 10:30 p.m. eastern shahzad boards emirates flight 202. at 10:40 a customs agent spots the suspect's name on the flight manifest. at 11:02 the door to the flight 2 202 is shut. by 11:45 p.m. the door is opened, and when investigators approach his seat, faisal shahzad says, and i'm quoting now, i was expecting you, are you nypd or fbi? >>> taken from the plane, shahzad is interrogated, and at about midnight admits he tried to detonate a bomb in times square. >>> we've been hearing from passengers on that emi

we're learning this hour that new york city police have interviewed the registered owner of the nissan pathfinder that was rigged with these homemade exclosives. on the phone, joe, a former nypd squad commander. talk to me about this investigation, where it is at 20 minutes past 12 eastern time a couple of days later. the suv, i assume, is key here. what kind of clues can it hold? >> oh, it can hold many, many clues as far as the devices that were placed and as far as, you know, any fingerprints or any kind of evidence that was removed from the vehicle. they're going to try to put a face or faces to anything they find in the vehicle. i mean, it's ongoing, it's been going on since the incident, but now it's involving many agencies as well. jane: when we say they've talked to the owner of this suv, you know, no jumping to conclusions that the one had anything to do with this, but how do you follow that trail, i guess? >> well, actually backtracking as well. they're going to follow the path of the vehicle, the travel of the vehicle from wherever it started into new york city and backtrack
