this was the view from someone in noe valley in san francisco who told us the fireworks have been going off tonight since around 845. well, some evacuation orders and warnings were lifted this afternoon in butte county as crews make some progress on the thompson fire. this burned more than 3700 acres near lake oroville since it broke out on tuesday. at last check, it is 29% contained. four buildings have burned and thousands more remain threatened. the fire is north of the city of oroville, on both sides of the feather river near lake oroville. the fire agency has deployed more than 1300 personnel from across the state to fight from both the ground and the air. >> a grass fire that broke out on treasure island earlier this evening is now contained. the smoke from the fire temporarily created smoking conditions, causing some traffic delays along i-80 eastbound. fire officials say there may be some delays as crews continue to mop up the scene. fire department officials say the quick response from multiple agencies helped to quickly gain control of the fire. >> this is part of our training

in the mission bay districtism lived in san francisco in noe valley.and i went to high school in san ma te'o. after high school i went to mississippi where i played volleyball in university of southern mississippi. what got me going college was i was applying to place related to fire and police i loved my experience but my family is home. i grew up here and could not be far from my family anymore i came back. >> i have been a firefighter for 4 years the transition to the fire department has been seam tells is the same. team work and coming together. transitioning to the job med me comfortable that i made the right decision to come become and work for a fire department that is big in diversity and equality and becoming a fell. i got to be a member at a few different fire stations. each station has their own culture. i worked in places that are xroem and with a young crew and had the most seniority have 3 or 2 years in whatever it may be. learning stuff when people have been in the job for 20 plus years and learning from people got in it grew me to adopt
