noelle walker joins us live from oakland with the latest on the search for the shooters. >> reporter: ken, we're here in downtown oakland at 18th and telegraph. you can sea they've got 17ed and tele-- 17th and telegraph closed off. this the scene of the latest shooting. four victims have been shot and wounded. take a look behind me. you can see some of the evidence markers on the sidewalk where this shooting took place at 4:08 this afternoon. investigators have been mere collecting evidence since then -- here collecting evidence since then. i did speak to a couple of witnesses. they said they saw the shooting and helped the victims. i talked to police just a short time ago. >> when officers got here, they discovered there were four victims from the shooting. three of them were non-life- threatening. one was life-threatening. right now he's listed in critical condition. >> reporter: so this has been a very busy 24 hours or less than that for opd i started off my day, looking into a shooting last night that happened in east oakland where four people were shot. two killed two wounded in

ktvu's noelle walker joins us live with more. >> reporter: heather, they found a shovel and pick axe. they turned out to be tools used by some young boys in order to groom bike trails here. the area they searched today was identified by the fbi as an area of interest, though they didn't find anything, it did lead them to another area they want to take a closer look at. on a sunny day made for hiking, meg thompson and her dog are logging miles, working. >> i send him into areas to check, especially steep areas we can't get to easily by ourselves. >> reporter: what they are looking for feels like a dark cloud on this sunny day. >> he's trained to find everything from teeth to newly dead bodies. >> reporter: kado is a cadaver dog, one of six used today, along with 45 search and rescue volunteers from alameda and santa clara county, to comb the hills around merritt college for daphne webb, the oakland toddler whose father reported her missing on july 10th. >> i'm confident we will find out what happened to this baby. >> reporter: police have identified an area of interest west of merritt

ktvu's noelle walker reports oakland police are looking for a suspect or suspects as police renew neighborhood efforts to tackle gun violence. >> reporter: these are the remnants of a party turned violent. crime scene tape on the fence and rubber gloves mark the place where four people were shot friday night on 105th avenue in oakland. east oakland is a place where ambulance sirens flashing lights and crime scenes are common. but people talking about what they see is not. one man who didn't want to go on-camera told me he heard the gunshots, walked outside and saw the carnage in the streets. man told me he recently moved one block away and said this is night and that was day. over there he could only hear the shootings. now he sees them. >> addressing violent crime is my top priority. >> reporter: on thursday, oakland's police chief announced a revival of operation cease-fire. this was part of a police cease- fire crackdown. obthursday the program's interim director says east side is the primary estimation focus of operation cease-fire. >> the goal is really to interrupt violence and more spec

walker got a look at the work being done. she joins us now live to tell us how soon drivers will experience delays, noelle. >> reporter: how about now julie, it's after 10:00 and we already have a back up. that's because they have some closures all gearing up for the bay bridge opening. earlier this evening i spent some time underneath the road deck of the new span. taking a look at some of the safety measures that drivers will rely on but never see. it's bridging that gap between oakland and san francisco. before the bay bridge was built the only straight shot was on water. >> tonight we left oakland in our wake and headed toward the new span of the bay bridge for a sightseeing cruise like no other. >> is anybody here afraid of heights? >> reporter: we headed 125 feet above the bay to take a look at what you may drive on but never see. >> if they got a job with caltrans and came up here that's really the only way or by watching you. that's really the only way they're going to see this. >> reporter: we are at ground zero. >> right above our head, that's the span. in the middle that's where the broken bolts were, or actually are.
