you have it in fiction as well as non fiction. some where along the line we were taught that non fiction is simply facts. it is not truth. facts wrapped around a story. facts put in a story. let's go back to that porch again, this time my mother in that soft tone of hers. she would tell hair raising ghost stories. she would start at the hour of the dark:30. that is 30 minutes before it gets all the way dark and the monsters come out. and i can hear her say, you used to be a woman who appeared under that street light over there and our heads would all go as one with the street light. it was though we were looking for the lady who walked in front of our house and didn't have a head. when she got to this street light she vanished. then in the same breath she would say, now would you go into the house and get me a drink of water? i would have to go into that creeky old house all by myself. it wasn't so bad in the living room because the lights from the front porch, but she had a table that had claw feet and i knew it was going to snat

but now it's non-fiction, right? >> i don't think it would be novel-length to begin with. story. good point there. rain on the way. we have talk about it last weekend in the forecast. looking back from volmer peak to diablo, you can see the clouds spilling through the east bay hill in the east bay valley. the shelf life is short now that the sun is up. take a look at the temperatures, everybody in the 50s except for santa rosa at 48 degrees. downtown around the monterey bay, inland to salinas, we have the mid-50s. gilroy is at 48, just like santa rosa. mostly sunny. and mild today. not too hot, not too cool. pretty close to average. rain tomorrow, lingering showers on wednesday. biggest change is in the temperatures those two days. bay area heat that is coming back for the holiday weekend. today is 1 to 2 degrees cooler in san jose, san francisco, oakland. concord, fremont. santa rosa about two degrees warmer. not much of a change since yesterday except for 18 seconds of sunshine we lose. let's start in the east bay valleys where we have the low to mid-80s this afternoon.
