resolution brought before the board earlier this year when the excellent middle east reporter, norah barros friedmanprogram had her hours cut in half and subsequently had to leave kpfa because she couldn't live on a halftime income. so it's things like that that convince me that the board ought not to take sides in this particular controversy. i would say, too, as regards to the language of the resolution, the layoffs are creating conditions that undermine the democratic spirit. i have no idea what's meant by that. this is a labor management issue. it's between management and the c.w.a. by the way, let me add that the majority of workers at kpfa are unpaid. i'm unpaid. the vast majority of us are unpaid. the c.w.a. didn't want us -- the prior union represented paid and unpaid. so i would urge you to not to vote on this, or at least wait until you've p -- you have a chance to get a full set of opinions on both sides on this issue. thank you. >> i'm going to ask you to vote against the kpfa resolution and i'm particularly going to ask you to vote against it in steve connally's memory. if he were here,
