norman carling made this as a model of something as a demonstration of his skill.d i suppose his wife was the only woman he'd ever seen naked so it's appropriate it is his wife. but she supposedly said, "if you think i'm having a model of me naked on the mantelpiece you're mistaken." so, he took it back to the pottery and gave it to his best friend who gave it to me. what would she think if she knew it was on the antiques roadshow? being watched by millions of people-- exactly.
