supervisor norman yee: can i also add my name. supervisor london breed: yes, also supervisor yee, jane kim, avalos serve on the school board and they are doing a lot for the district and the work that you are doing is really making us wanting to work harder to continue to support our public schools and do everything welcome -- we can here at the board of supervisors where other schools can also continue to thrive. i want to give you both principals and coach an opportunity to say a few words. president david chiu: mr. principal? >> good afternoon, everyone. i just want to say how proud i am of you boys. many of you were sophomores and you stayed together and worked hard. it's all about teamwork and carried on that galileo pride. i was from wilson and i graduated in 88 and i know the true tradition that galileo has. congratulations coach, and congratulations to the team. supervisor norman yee: thank you madam clerk. first i want to thank supervisor kim's comments and taking a lead on submitting the resolutions that i'm coauthoring with her with supervisor avalos. the three main strategies that we are going to really get to the zero tolerance which is the street improvement piece, enforcement piece and education piece. all three of these strategies many of us are already aware of them, certainly in the district 7 pedestrian safety plan that report that i help put together this past year pointed out those three strategies. today i'm introducing a resolution along with supervisor's kim and avalos to create an action plan. let's go beyond, we are going to take a leap into the attempt to get us to zero. and so we want to have this pedestrian safety public awareness targeting the vehicle driver's and pedestrians. a lot of times we talk about this pedestrian safety awareness plan, people toned think it's all about what pedestrians should be doing. certainly that is an important piece of the ingredient,

supervisor norman yee: thank you. today i'm honoring an outstanding individual in district 7. mark christensen. please come to the podium. mark work tirelessly throughout the year with his neighborhood organization metna. which stands for merced extended triangle association to ensure his neighborhood gets the attention it deserves. besides supervisor avalos does anybody know where it is? when you come off the freeway on 280 going to 19th avenue, you shoot over the little triangle area. that's part of my district that hardly anybody knows about. but i do know and it has a nice supermarket area. due to mark's work it has not been totally forgotten. he works very hard to fill the unoccupied spaces on the mall and was successful in bringing the much needed grocery store at the time. mark is a driving force in recruiting many other people to get involved and work in a positive way with both city and the neighborhood. that is why he is also being awarded the neighborhood empowerment network lifetime achievement award that will be coming up soon. mark believes collaboration is the k

supervisor norman yee: part of it is i haven't caught up with understanding what the funding original funding was meant for and what's the parameters of that funding and why we are, i guess, i'm also thinking in terms of whether, as we are moving from the future systems in terms of health care, there is a concern that many of the younger healthier people may not want to shift over to the healthy california and partially because there is no incentive for them to do this. in regards to the cost of it. is there any way to use any of this funding or if we are putting in general funds and saving money anyway, to help the young people make a decision to go into healthy california by supplementing some of the cost of shifting over for sort of a time period? >> that's a good question, supervisor, thank you. there are a couple of answers. the first is that we are trying to take advantage of any funding that's available out there to do outreach and enrollment. we have a very proactive effort by the city government, but also community organizations that are out in trying to educate people and en

and tia from norman yee's office so if you would take two minutes to speak that would be great. thanks. >> hi my name is hillary and i am a legislative aid for david campos that he apologizes that he could not be here so he sent me to say that two main points, number one, we are extremely excited about this item and the fact that we have a path to finally building affordable housing for families in the mission at 1950 mission. and the second, reason is that we are here to support the concerns of the united educators union and threefold, and one, that they want to make sure that there is a commitment from the school board to work with the union to insure that there are dedicated funds to build educator housing because as we all know there is a huge affordable crisis in this city and that includes, educators who increasingly are not able to live in san francisco where they teach our kids. second we support a master plan for the surplus property so that we are not evaluating each piece of land separately as well as dedicated staff with the requisite knowledge and in order to handle
