i really want to thank, and he's no longer here, former president of the board of supervisors, norman yee and his advocacy in making sure that there are resources to support child care for all in san francisco. i want to thank ingrid, who is running our office of early childhood education. she has this very unique connection between communities and child care systems where we are able to bridge that gap when needed for the teachers and for the equipment and the cleaning and the number of other things that go into this. i remember when we were in the bayview-hunters point community, and you took a tour -- this is west point, where hunters view has been completely remodelled and additional housing is being built in the neighborhood, and there's this child care that could accommodate where around 130 to 150 kids. there weren't even 50 kids at this location, and i asked why wasn't this place packed, because i knew we had a long waiting list in the city, and there was no reason why every spot shouldn't have been filled, and it was because of resources. when i see families that are just before

(please stand by) i think we were both proponents of proposition l, that was then supervisor norman yee's attempt to actually add checks and balances that i supported and to change the composition of the m.t.a. commission and to change the number of supervisors that it would take to reject an m.t.a. budget. that charter amendment, with a couple of million dollars in opposition, failed. but we can go back to the ballot in june of 2022. and fundamentally, and i think director tumlin understands this on some level. you can't cut the board of supervisors out. m.t.a. commissioners do not get their door knocked on or their e-mails blown up for restoration of the two or the 28 or the 31 or the 39. i mean, i can't leave my house when, you know, and walk five blocks without hearing about the 39, which ace teeny tiny feeder line, but every old person on the hill needs that to bring their groceries home. that's just how it is. so i think the urgency of this board -- i agree, we're not out of the pandemic, but we're getting there, and saying, hey, m.t.a., this is a shared priority. and m.t.a., you he
