and so john norris, welcome. thank you, and tell us more about mary mcgrory, please. >> thank you, cheryl. it's a pleasure to be here today. it's great to appear with marlene. the subjects of our biographies actually have a lot in common once you kind of dissect them a bit. by almost any accounting, mary mcgrower was one of the most important -- mcgrory was one of the most important journalists of the last hundred years. she was the first woman to win a pulitzer prize for commentary. her columns appeared in 200 papers around the country for the better part of a half century. she was one of the most important liberal voices in american political debate. she appeared on nixon's infamous enemies list with two stars and an asterisk by her name -- [laughter] which she always said was one of the greatest honors she'd ever been accorded during her lengthy career. [laughter] so there's a lot there to begin with. but as with marlene and bessie, one of the things that really struck me about mary was almost the virtual impo

i am catherine norris-trent. after two months of street protests, the french government controversial plans to shake up labor laws are finally being put to parliament this tuesday. demonstrations are taking place where they are, determined to keep up pressure on the government. dupuis is inaurore paris. this is the third time in less than a week the demonstrators have been out on the streets over this law. recent protests have turned violent. how is the scene looking at the moment today? now the situation is remaining pretty calm, catherine. we are in the heart of paris. we are not very far away from the eiffel tower. it is a tourist area. the most important part is that we are a few hundred meters away from the national assembly. french mp's are due to examine the law later today. that is why it is a very important day for the protesters. they want to maintain the pressure against the french government. over the past two months they have been protesting, taking to the streets, chanting antigovernment slogans. ri

. >>> back to the breaking news in norris town, montgomery county. monique braxton is live at the scene with new information. fill us in, monique. >> reporter: for the past hour we have watched firefighters huddled outside discussing the situation. what we know is that at least eight people have been injured. something that's interesting is, you can see in the far distance to the back of that ladder truck, you notice that the montgomery county coroner has also arrived. he is taking pictures. we have not been told if anyone has passed away. we're still waiting for information. the fire chief has told us he will speak to us momentarily. but an hour has passed since we first learned that. the firefighters were called here about an hour and a half ago to a two-alarm blaze. one person suffering from cardiac arrest. as many as seven others injured. and right now we're trying to find the extent of everyone's injuries. we did speak to someone here on the scene who said a man he described as his friend was frantically trying to escape the blaze along with two

this is out of norris town, montgomery county. three people are dead in a house fire. one of the victims is a child, and another child is in critical condition in the hospital. let's get right to nbc10's monique braxton. she's been following the investigation since early this morning. >> reporter: the relationship between those three individuals who passed away and the child in critical condition still isn't known. just over my shoulder you can see that about a dozen firefighters still remain on the scene near a side porch, which is where firefighters tell us that part of the house is most extensively damaged. we have also been learning from the chief that six people are injured, including the one child in critical condition. firefighters were called here at about 4:00 this morning. a three-story twin on fire here in the 800-block of dekalb. the fire quickly grew to two alar alarms. >> heavy fire was visible from the first floor side of the property. that would be the first area that the fire investigators will start looking to determine exactly where the fire started
