the north -- the north beach neighborhood is a neighborhood with a serious high need for open space. both north beach and chinatown will probably continue to be high need neighborhoods even after this project. we focused on the current users and the desires expressed by the park users for new facilities. the people that were gathered behind as earlier in the meeting were talking about the poorly sited playground and a desire to keep the hard scape, because that is where children learn to use their bikes and where they play tennis. we came up with a plan that expands and optimizes the playground, the tennis, and the visual connection between the facilities. since may of 2008, the library and recreation and parks department have had out representations' and discussions with community groups and other stakeholders throughout the neighborhood, including chinatown community development corporation, telegraph hill neighborhood center, and many others. the open space in this plan is increased by 20% and allowed to accommodate an expanded children's play area, to meet new ada and safety feat

starting to see storms up the north. fairly stormy for the sea of japan side of the country and the showers will make their way over towards the pacific side, as well, but it should be fairly light. in behind that, high pressure is going to be taking control of parts of the northern china, as well as mongolia. the korean peninsula, too. we should see rising temperatures into next week. we see a lot of moisture coming down here into southern portions of china. it is good news. we've had very dry and very hot conditions here over the last several days. we're going to start to see very high temperatures coming back down again, which is good news. but some of these downpours are going to be on the heavy side. anywhere you're seeing in the yellow could be 100 millimeters of rain and, in fact, the parts of northern myanmar and northeastern india and bangladesh, you could see 150 millimeters. there's definitely going to be a high risk of things like flooding and landslides, too. temperatures, 27 degrees, not cool at all in toky

i believe the north beach library should be redesigned. the wholesale removal destruction of it -- i see the libraries in the presidio branch and the richmond district that have not been knocked down. these are beautiful buildings that have been augmented and redesigned. also, i see tax dollars wasted. i have seen lots of different types of proposals that actually improve the original design of the building and augmented. those seem to be disregarded. what about the views of alcatraz? that would be blocked. i also work in the hotel business. granted, people are here for only five days or a week, but that iconic view will be lost forever. it looked like tennis courts for going to cover part of the baseball diamond named after the great joe dimaggio. my concern is that this project seems to be more steamrolled and thought through, as far as i have been able to observe. i encourage this project to be put on hold, at least so it can be reviewed more thoroughly, to the point where the a original building can be kept instead of being knocked dow
