this happened on highway 101, in the north bay. >> dramatic video here of a police pursuit on highway 101 in marin county. chp chasing a car driving the wrong way. i want to one in sandra fell. police say they use this helicopter to follow the car going the wrong way. there. sandra helped police. they had to set up a traffic closure to stop the car. a police officer that rams this car as was going the wrong way before went into on coming traffic. the car then ends up catching on fire. police put it out with the suspects still in the car and then they pulled the suspect out and they say they were then able to make under arrest. happening today, the oakland police commission is hosting a town hall as it continues discussing whether or not to change its policies regarding police pursuits. currently, police do not chase suspects through city streets, but some oakland residents and small business owners want that policy to end. they argue not chasing criminals has led to more burglaries and more suspects driving away from police stops. this group is holding a rally at 05:30am tonight. just

north of the 101 especially. that's where the windiest conditions have been.re our current fires are. and they've even gained a little bit of containment even during this wind event. relative humidity. van nuys 17 burbank 17%. so it's extremely dry. hasn't rained in eight months. and we do have some high winds. you know, we got a 63 mile per hour gusts right now. notice north of simi valley about 48. so we have a couple really gusty spots but it's not widespread. i mean downtown la has like no wind whatsoever. so that's good where we have our current fires, what's left of them, the palisades fire and the eaton fire. the whole concern is will any new fire starts happen in the next 24 hours? because as we go throughout this evening, once after midnight, especially, those winds kick up in the 60 mile per hour range. and that's when the aircraft will have a hard time fighting any new blazes. if they fight, if they form and then by 4 p.m. tomorrow, the winds come down to near normal. so again, chris, the big deal is 24 more hours. then the humidity will increase a

it's really picked up just north of santa rosa on 101, and also just now starting to arrive in san rafaelwith some light showers and some drizzle coming in for south san francisco. all of this rain will continue to move from north to south and cover the bay area. at times it may be heavy, but at times we may get some breaks. look at 3:00 tomorrow afternoon. we may not see much activity at all and getting a lot lighter, but then picking up again early on sunday morning and continuing into monday, and we see still some rain in the forecast for next week. so just today we could see some parts of the bay area getting a significant soaking in the north bay, about three quarters of an inch of rainfall from san francisco to 3/10 of an inch of rain, but much less for the south bay. until tomorrow, when we see the rainfall totals starting to increase. and next week in total, we could see about seven to possibly closer to eight inches of rainfall. farther to the north. and in san jose, that's about two inches. that's possible, which would really help with this rainfall deficit that's continuing to

north to south. we were driving along the 101 into sonoma county through the morning hours. it hasn't been bad, but steady light rain. it's in the afternoon hours where drivers may need to be careful. that's because drivers will likely have to take it slow in the afternoon, when showers are expected to pick up. remember, it's been a dry january. we haven't seen rain in the bay area for about three weeks, so the roads are expected to be slick out there with all that oil and the grease that has accumulated on the road surfaces, the north bay is expected to see the highest risk for flooding for several inches of rain anticipated. look for your city's website. they have where sandbag stations are set up. if you need to prepare and protect your home. well, i hope it doesn't get too bad. this amount is great. a little more would be good, but yeah, if it leads to flooding, that's that's not good. earlier today we went over to a sandbag station over in rohnert park. they do have a limitation of 25 bags. so you want to check with public works to see how many you're able to take. roll

north bay. let's zoom it on in. see those slick roads along 101e through windsor, santa rosa, rohnert park and out towards bodega bay as well. it could get a little bit gusty right there by the coast. as that front pushes through, we see it continuing down into parts of inverness, san rafael and approaching mill valley. the city right now just starting to get that rain band pushing in. and it's also moving through parts of 280, but the rest of us under that cloud cover and that will soon change as we track this for you hour by hour. i see it pushing on into the east bay, the peninsula, right around the morning commute 8:00 9:00. as i mentioned, it could get heavy at times as we see those spots of yellow in the east bay pushing on through down into the south bay, we should see a rainy lunchtime hour, but it could be light. most of the models are just hinting at some light rain pushing through with this band and into the evening times. we do get some peeks of sunshine, just some of those post-frontal showers that could pop up at times up there in th
