north bay, east bay and tri valley, coldest location will be the north bay. instead of teens, low to mid 20s. a more optimistic and slightly warmer forecast for you and for the tri start off at 32 at 7:00 a.m. and the noon hour, 53. we are expecting marked warming over the next three to six days. high pressure offshore. that's going to be responsible for warming us up, but there is a side effect to this. as strong high pressure builds in across the bay, it is going to keep us at unhealthy levels with that air quality for the north bay, the east bay and also for the south bay. so if you do suffer from respiratory problems, that is going to be an issue for you. what happens, basically, is high pressure builds aloft and helps produce a cap or a lid of sorts right across the bay and with light winds in the forecast, we're really not expected to see that air quality get better until we get in some movement into that atmosphere. looks like that will eventually happen in the forecast. as we head throughout thursday and friday. some rain off to the north should help

san francisco, expected to get close to 60 degrees by noon and we'll see north bay, east bay and tryvalley locations and plenty of sun, cold jacket weatr and by noon, sunshine and temperatures climbing back into the 60s. now, we have our jet stream that's directly overhead right now. that kept the cool air in place, especially for the morning hours. high pressure continues to build in. this area of high pressure is going to allow for air to sink down to the valley floors. and with that sinking air, stagnant air and not a whole lot to push any activity out. we're going to be looking at air quality. tomorrow, looking at good to moderate levels of air quality. this week, by the time we get to tuesday and wednesday, that's when we will look at air quality back into the unhealthy category. of course, with 12 days of spare the air the past couple of weeks, this is not something we need. we haven't seen a whole lot of rain. you can see that continues to fall across parts of the ohio valley, the tennessee valley, and towards the mississippi valley. a lot of this, the good news is the severe

the coldest, the north bay averaging 48. you're being rivaled in the south bay, actually in the last minute now is also averaging 48 degrees. and 49 throughout the peninsula. what i want to take you to is here across the south bay, that's where tomorrow morning temperatures are expected in the upper 30s at 8:00 a.m. also clear skies. and watch this. by 2:00 p.m., we're not going to see too much warming. definitely jacket weather in place here as we head throughout tomorrow's forecast. now, let's get that 24-hour look in here. and what you're going to see is most of the temperatures are going to be averaging right at about 50 degrees. so let's find out in that forecast how things are going to play out. i think the worst of that cold weather is going to be up here into the north bay. that's where that freeze warning has been issued for tonight. also for tomorrow morning. and that's where we'll likely find those isolated areas of 20s. for the south bay, not that cold for tomorrow morning, but certainly very chilly for us. 36 exp

the cold air trapped in some of those north bay valleys or interior valleys north of sacramento, this may come down as snow. especially up by lakeport and maybe down to slightly lower than 1,000 feet. and the weekend, blustery once again as that system clears on out. highs today, no worries about rain, sunshine but a jacket all day long is going to be fine. highs near 51 in san jose, 52 in palo alto. low 50s in san francisco and the east bay, highs near 50 in fremont. 50, as well, in livermore. do you think the folks might keep the heaters going in the car? >> it's quite possible. we are in the bay area. sometimes we turn the heater up when it gets below 60. over toward fremont, probably a lot of heaters going. a lot of folks had to heat up the windshield a bit. use the car apparatus, don't pour the hot water on there. we're looking over the maps and through the area, we're looking at mission boulevard right now cutting over between 880 and 680. that's it for the freeways, though. and a nice, smooth flow. we've seen speeds dip below 60. and that's traditional about this time, as well.

what i can tell enthusiasm is about as cold as it gets around the bay area. 23 is cold even in the north bay37 in san francisco. east bay at 31, and here in the south bay we're starting out at 29. the good news it's all uphill from here as we head throughout the next couple days. this is the coldest it's going to be for a morning expected this week. that's the good news. want to take you through what we are on the way toward. it's going to be cold until about 11:00 a.m. then temperatures are going to climb out of the 20s and 30s into the 40s and 50s. look at these numbers. 22 in petaluma. the city has fallen to levels we have not seen, 35 and you're at 34 now forest hills and west portal so make sure you give yourself extra time if you parked on the street as many do in the city by the day, to get the frost off your windshield. i want to take you now along the peninsula where temperatures are cold, foster city, 29 in san jose. and it is cold enough for black ice this morning. out in los gatos at 28 degrees so you want to travel cautiously. especially over 17. the pavement will look wet if yo

it's a soaking rain fall from the south bay all the way north. you see pink and white below the banner there. that is the east bay hills south toward mount hamilton. we are picking up snow. look at all that yellow, orange for you in the santa cruz mountains. that's heavy rain fall. richmond, san ramon, concord, fair field, vacville, north all the way up to winters. also on the peninsula, burling game and hillsborrow. it is snowing heavily up and down our mountains here in california. so, we have a winter weather advisory in effect in the north bay, east bay, and south bay. 1500 feet is the snow level in north bay. 2,000 feet elsewhere. 2 to 4 inches of new snowfall before this low pressure area moves out. so we have the rain. we have the snow. we actually have a lot more cold weather coming. find out when the next freeze warning is up. that's coming up in a few minutes. >> the cold weather has turned deadly here in the bay area. in the past week, four people have died from the freezing temperatures. betty tells us authorities are joining homeless
