this is primarily north bay rain. if you look at the closer view, there are light showers showing up for part of the bay. so you get a few light sprinkles. the more noticeable will have a focus in the north bay over the course of the morning commute. at 7:30, more rain for sonoma than from golden gate south. from the golden gate south, we will get rain but it will take from the late morning to early afternoon. in the north bay, by afternoon, it is still going in the north bay. this is probably when we get the majority of the rain. through early afternoon and in the north bay. that's where we pick up perhaps as much as a half inch of rain. rainfall totals look good. temperatures are in the low 50s. we are not going to get out of the upper 50s for most of us.. many other opportunities after this. gianna. >>> i will borrow your radar and see how freeways are doing in the areas where we are seeing the light rain and mist. checking traffic conditions along 101, looks like we are at the limit with no major delays or issues.

rain mainly for the north bay.hursday night and friday, this should be the best rain-producing period that we'll see this week. also some windy conditions. we'll have to watch as the cooler air comes through. not widespread rain on friday, but there's a slight chance we might see a brief isolated thundershower. so the rainfall trend a big difference between what the mountains are going to see. could see two inches or so on those north bay hilltops, again passing the april monthly average in about two or three days. in the south bay, could see less than san jose but generally about a half inch to three quarters of an inch around the bay area. here is the good news for the sierra. could see another two feet of snow. i was checking some of the snowpack data. looks like we jumped up 5% to 7% in the statewide snowpack average as of very early on saturday. you factor in what fell saturday and what could fall this week, we could see that sierra snowpack maybe recover by as much as 10%, maybe 15%. we'll be watching that cl

so let's take a look at just how dry it is out there right now in the teens for north bay valleys andt bay conquered as well. we're tracking very dry conditions when you should be seeing a lot more moisture because of the cooler overnight lows. but those warm, dry, offshore winds going to continue to impact our inland valleys in the north bay east bay. and as you can see, it's going to extend into the south bay as well. for those of you in san jose by sunday afternoon into early sunday night. and then by sunday night we're going to see moisture recovery increase thanks to calmer winds and also cooler overnight. temperatures. but it's not only impacting our valleys but our bay area coastline as well. winds are going to increase wave heights up to 22 feet from now through 3 o'clock on sunday. so going to keep an eye on that. but the good news is we do have some light april showers. our first round of wet weather arriving this month monday morning through monday afternoon. but a quarter of an inch of rain or less with another round of wet weather by wednesday night in the north bay valle

we've been monitoring some rain moving into the bay area further north. much have to bay area in fog. we get a live look outside init the rain moving in around eureka. that's where it has been and you can see the snow in the upper elevations as this next cold weather system moves in. the seven-day forecast is coming in at the bottom of the screen. we'll see some scattered showers in parts of the north bay by about 7:00 to 8:00. still around santa rosa northward. we will see it in napa and other parts of the north bay shortly before midnight. we can see some light scattered showers moving in and then creeping toward the east bay before sunrise, and it will take a while before it makes to it san jose. we're expecting not a lot of rain in the south bay as it kind of fades out before making it into some of those areas. so a look at how many rain we could see. it looks like farther north, we could see an inch of rain. notice how many more it drops off from san francisco. about a quarter inch of rain. for oakland and then as you head down to palo alto, it may on

it starts to make it into san jose by about 8:00 to 9:00, with rain clearing up for the north bay by e rest of the bay area clearing out by noon and the rest of the day is sunny, windy and really cool. take a look at the seven-day forecast at the bottom of the screen. this will be our only chance of rain this week. we're going to see cold front sweeping through and temperatures only in the 50s from today through tomorrow. not much change. this is wednesday's forecast and it's still in the 50s and 60s. we'll see that next round of rain coming in late wednesday night. as far as what we'll see today, maybe 0.1 to 0.25 an inch of rain, higher amounts over the upper elevations. the next storm system coming in between late wednesday and thursday will also be a decent one. we've got another round on saturday. if you're making plans for easter, it's looking good. then there will be another chance of rain early next week. take a look at our long-range rain model and how much we could see based on what two computer models are showing. it's about 1 inch of rain for santa rosa, about 3/4 of an in

it's getting kind of cold in the north bay valleys. for the heart of the bay, mid to upper 40s, you won't notice a lot. santa rosa, 1.3. that's okay. we'll watch it. give yourself a little extra time in the north bay. the fog shouldn't be too bad. here is the warm up today, about five degrees warmer than yesterday. low to mid 70s most locations. if you are in the heart of the bay, it is upper 60s. if we look at the weekend forecast on the big picture, saturday is like today except we get warmer. then sunday watch what happens. a weak system comes in. you see the rain way off the coast. we don't get rain out of that. what we do notice is we feel it go back. watch the screen light up into sunday. you will see winds pick up in intensity for sunday afternoon. for a closer look, you will see it right there. of the two days this weekend, saturday is the nicer one. saturday will be mid to upper 70s inland, calm and sunny. sunday you have to settle for low 70s but it will be breezy. it is a subtle difference but just to get you ready for the we

now, the bull's eye of all this energy is going to be up in the north bay. the big winners as far as what you're going to be seeing with rainfall today, north of the golden gate bridge. that's where we're going to see our greatest totals right now. we're we're seeing the most widespread rain is mendocino and lake counties with some of that blue reflecting snow, those higher elevations for most of the bay area. up to this point. it's just a minute. a few light fairly quiet. start to the morning as of yet. and pretty quiet. still across the south bay to some sprinkles, light showers up in the santa cruz mountains as well as across the east bay. this energy is going continue to push to the south into the east and that is going to share all that rainfall with us giving us today's rainfall, especially towards the late morning into early afternoon city, becoming much more widespread right after 10:00am towards 11 noontime and then especially into the early afternoon. look at that. rainfall becoming super widespread for the north bay and staying that well through th
