of the coldest mornings of the season so far lows dropping well into the 30's, not just for the north bayle spots right along side. the shore of the bay. currently scares skies are crystal clear all the way up the coastline. we are seeing some lingering rain and snow in the kern county mountains to the south and east of u.s. bay area, though we are in for a dry trend of whether it is cold to start this day. we've got an arctic air mass that is plunge deep into the west coast. we made our way past fall and now it just feels like winter for a lot of the western u.s.. this is so needed, though. building snowpack early in the season like this from the rockies to the sierra, nevada is going to help us a whole lot with drought conditions, especially because it is a cold system. so less of that immediate melt off occurring and the chance to actually build some snow pack up there. we saw snowfall this week. we're going to get more of it next week and not a big warm up in the middle, meaning that you'll get the snow and another layer of snow on top of it. that's exactly the recipe we need clear sk

a few showers are possible, that is in the north bay. outside later today most remain dry and that dry weather really stretches on for much of next week. along with satellite really just some patchy drizzle, nothing to uniform. we have fog, anywhere a quarter to zero miles visibility. if you're travelling 101. temperatures slowly climbing through the 40s but that cloud cover is slowing that warming process. along the satellite you can see that spin very nicely that's the area of low pressure that is moving our way and that will supply that chance of an afternoon/evening shower. on the storm impact scale the morning drizzle ending. but then tooevening a scattered shower is likely the best chance happening is in the north bay. 10:30 we have bright skies. looking nice over the next several hours. by 2:00, 3:00, more cloud cover into the north bay with showers that moves south as the evening wears on. those showers are really falling apart. i expect areas in the south bay to pick up minimal if any rainfall. and it clears out quickly. overnig

i should say south of the north bay from southern marine into the east bay and then it sweeps throughght monday morning waking up to some sun not looking too bad. these rain rates on monday and tuesday. the accumulated rain is going to be higher on monday and tuesday then with the passage of the front overnight tonight. so there is monday look at tuesday. this is when the front comes through so monday into tuesday the possibility of some thunderstorms those downpours that unstable air and as we get into nine o'clock on tuesday, we're still looking at rainfall accumulating. so the rainfall amounts have gone up. so we're looking at three quarters of an inch perhaps on the peninsula to over an inch ben lomond the santa cruz mountains up towards the north bay an inch and half two inches, maybe big sir even higher rainfall amounts than that if that low moves in south of the bay area. here's a look at our winter storm warning through wednesday. so the snow starts out light and then several bands of heavy snow. we're talking three four five feet by kirkwood. it's amazing. isn't it 61 in oakl

look at how much of the bay area is lit up in frost advisories from the north bay, the inland east bay peninsula and the south bay. these extend through 09:00am this morning. temperatures in these areas falling as low as the upper 20's down to the 30's. got those for trees covered up last night. you've got those pets inside. staying cozy with you. and as you're steppingu outside later on this morning, definitely want to be bundling up very, very chilly. start to the state right now. we're sitting with temperatures, a whole lot of 30's, redwood city, dublin, livermore, down in the upper 30's, alameda and san francisco. among our warmer spots at 48 degrees. well up in the north bay, you're looking at 30's for santa rosa nevado in fairfax. i am expecting temperatures to fall a little bit further than this as we work our way through the morning. fairfield down at 33 degrees right now. the areas outside the city limits those rural areas tend to be around 5 degrees to 7 degrees cooler than our urban heat island. so even colder than what you're seeing on the map, once you get out into those c

for those of you in the north bay. let's track this storm hour by hour because for north bay, valleys and mountains, we could see anywhere from one and a half to 3 inches of much needed rain. and that's what this are. so very impressive. gusty winds all day thursday, 30 to 40 miles per hour. but we could actually see gusts upwards of 50 miles per hour or less and radar for very dry, calm, clear conditions. but there's that main event right to our north. and it's going to tap into some subtropical moisture for those of you in the north that you could start seeing some scattered showers as early as wednesday night. but the bulk of the wet weather arriving shortly before midnight for the rest of the bay area. it's going to arrive after midnight and it is going to be pretty heavy at times, especially by your thursday morning commute. so plan ahead because this storm is really going to impact. does all day thursday for those of you in the north bay, it's going to peak by midmorning and then for the rest of the bay area earl
