of the coldest mornings of the season so far lows dropping well into the 30's, not just for the north bayle spots right along side. the shore of the bay. currently scares skies are crystal clear all the way up the coastline. we are seeing some lingering rain and snow in the kern county mountains to the south and east of u.s. bay area, though we are in for a dry trend of whether it is cold to start this day. we've got an arctic air mass that is plunge deep into the west coast. we made our way past fall and now it just feels like winter for a lot of the western u.s.. this is so needed, though. building snowpack early in the season like this from the rockies to the sierra, nevada is going to help us a whole lot with drought conditions, especially because it is a cold system. so less of that immediate melt off occurring and the chance to actually build some snow pack up there. we saw snowfall this week. we're going to get more of it next week and not a big warm up in the middle, meaning that you'll get the snow and another layer of snow on top of it. that's exactly the recipe we need clear sk

well, initially clearing out for the north bay than the peninsula. finally for the south bay towards the middle of the afternoon, skies will clear out after that. but we stay breezy and we stay fairly cool today. so you'll need the jackets all day long tomorrow. some off and on showers are expected. most of us should stay dry tomorrow. but don't be surprised if one of those showers moves overhead for wednesday, too. rainfall totals today mostly around a quarter of an inch. our greatest of totals will be up in the sierra foothills as well as up along the north coast in mendocino and humboldt counties. as for what we can expect in the sierra over a foot of snowfall at the crest of the sierra could make for some slick travel conditions up highway 50 or up. i-80 so likely not the day to day nor even tomorrow to be heading up into the sierra unless you're fully prepared for that. winter weather. today's highs will only be in the 50's for most of the bay. a few low to mid 60's along the bay shore, though, burlingame, you're one of our warmer spots today. sa
