but we are now officially seeing some of that shower activity drifting into the north bay. can see some a moderate rainfall in marine county as well as some rain really picking up now just north of santa rosa. look at that snow that is now falling again north of uk on 101, 101, is snow packed what you get up into northern mendocino county, northern napa, sonoma and then up into lake counties. it's all about the snow yet again. and you can see all this energy that's heading our direction, all that rain and a heavy line of it to dropping into the bay area over the next several hours here. so get ready to get wet. if you're stepping outside late this morning. this is 07:00am some moderate showers drifting on to the peninsula. obviously the orange, yellow and red at the top of your screen indicating that heavy rainfall, the north bay by 8.30, starting to see rain really picking up in county, intensity increasing for you. and by 09:00am dropping onto the peninsula and parts of the east bay, those orange and red areas indicating those heavy downpours. and what you're not seeing is

it is a chilly start this morning, especially in parts of the north bay. ratures are pretty moderate. palo alto, santa clara, 37 degrees right now. this time we are looking for the east bay hills. you can see how clear it is this morning. in the north bay, that is where temperatures are dropping. napa, 36. there is a frost advisory for parts of the north bay. you will want to protect your plants and your pets. concorde and livermore in the upper 30's. plenty of temperatures warming up. high pressures building and a slight offshore float -- flow. we will warm up in the 60's for some neighborhoods. san francisco 57. mainly upper 50's around the bay . oakland and san mateo 59. tonight, it will also be chilly. we will see some clouds moving in overhead. that means temperatures coming down to the 30's. the chilly temperatures will stick around for the next couple of mornings before things start to warm up a little bit or get closer to average for the morning lows in santa rosa. our afternoon highs will warm up to with plenty of high-pressure. here is the accuwea

we are going to first start to see it in the north bay at about 10:00 and then moving through the rest of the bay area by about 3:00 to 4:00, and then clearing out sunday night. so it's going to be wave after wave of rain, and of course that timing may shift just a bit. but our temperatures staying low. only in the upper 40s and low 50s today. and then going ahead into next week, there will be more storm systems coming in. so we have that one on sunday, another one right behind that on monday that may be slightly colder. we'll see that linger into tuesday, possibly early wednesday before we catch a bigger break. as far as how much additional rain, maybe another quarter to half inch. but in total through next week we could see another 2 to 2 1/2 inches of rainfall in spots. and then the sierra is going to see another couple of feet of snow this weekend, and then going all the way out through next week there's going to be additional snowfall. in total, we could see another 95 inches of snow in kirkwood. so this has really been an amazing season in terms of our precipitation, and it looks

looks like tuesday morning in the north bay mid-bay, central bay pretty fast movement with those bands and showers. overall, the timing on this looks just like what we saw yesterday. we have the showers holding up to about midafternoon and clearing skies heading into the evening. with the fast movement, not expecting a lot of rain. some of the wetter locations picking up closer to a quarter inch of rain. the big story here connection to the wind and cooling temperatures, morning lows, really dropping down to low 30s and patchy frost and maybe brief warnings that the winds backup enough for wednesday morning. as you see in the seven-day forecast on the screen , comes the next chance for seeing some rain. that will be friday may be a better chance regionally of seeing some rain and rain totals a bit more impressive as a rain chances should be for most of the day on friday. just like we have this we can, the load drops down to southern california with clearing skies taking shape for next saturday and sunday. spring weather is going away. you see those temperatures really dropping down. tu

it's very light to moderate showers for the north bay at this point, i'm looking at that in marine county as well as up into sonoma county, head north of santa rosa up to healdsburg and you're looking at some heavier rainfall right there along 101. and if you head further north from there, look at ukiah northward up into mendocino county, nothing but snow as you make your way up the north coast. so all this energy is going to continue to shift our direction through the morning and that heavy line of showers. now just a couple of hours away from us. you can see that showing up here on future cast. that line of orange and red. you know what that means? that's the heavier rainfall for the north bay dropping through between 07:38am, for northern sonma county. then towards a 30 to 09:00am from or in southern sonoma and then into napa counties. after that crossing the golden gate onto the peninsula between 9 and 10:00am and dropping into the rest of the baby on that. this heavy line of rain comes along with some strong winds to and opens up the storm door for off and on showers into the afterno

we are seeing the rain approaching first in the north bay. look at the timeline. s at about 3:00 in the morning. it's moving into lake and north sonoma county and then spreading across the rest of the bay area by 6:00 to 7:00. it starts out with a wave of heavy rain and then gets lighter and more scattered throughout the day. by the afternoon, some of us are getting a break. there still could be lingering spotty showers. this first round of rain, not really heavy bringing us a quarter to half inch of rain. more rain in the forecast for the end of the weekend. sunday we could see up to an inch of rain and even higher amounts further to the north. for much of the bay area, about half to three quarters of an inch of rain. also a good amount of more sierra snow. another 15 inches of snow, so that's going to be great to see that coming down after we talk about our historic snowpack. we will have a update on that. we will see temperatures in the upper 50s and low 60s. scattered showers on friday and then more widespread rain on sunday. >>> mike, now you have a traffic al

some people decided to make the trip to see the snow up close from the east bay to the north bay, the south bay and beyond. we saw snow today in a number of locations. let's start up in the north bay, which certainly saw its share of snow and ice and all the troubles that come with this extreme weather. ktvu james taurus spent his morning in and around napa where people were trying to make the best of things. we're talking 68 inches here in napa valley. all of that snow accumulating overnight and it just hasn't stopped off throughout the morning. you can see how much of that it's just on the roadway here. but this snow, it isn't light and fluffy and powdery. no, it's dense. it's thick and it's heavy, and it's weighing heavy on trees that are coming down power lines that are coming down more trees in the distance. all of that. falling onto roadways here in napa county, so anyone who has been traveling up and down say places like angwin down over closer to the peninsula have had to face major headaches. chaos lots of snow. a lot of trees down trees and power lines. you don't need the po

and very frustrating for many, but just the beauty of that snow out there on our hills and in the north bay the way down to about 250 ft this morning, santa rosa cold for you 46 degrees right now cold conquered at 49 san jose at 49 so temperatures in and around the bay area right now, mid forties to mid fifties, and most of us are enjoying at least a little bit of sunshine. we still have the possibility of scattered showers in the forecast. here's a look at some of the rainfall amounts from the last 24 hours, anywhere from 91 1/100 of an inch there in redwood city to an inch and two tents for san francisco kent filled in the north bay, picking up more than an inch and a half mil valley. almost an inch and a half and some of these numbers from the national weather service from today in the north bay against snow levels were down to almost 250 ft. in some areas, with 1 to 2, even three inches of snow. paul more than that, for some of the higher elevation levels. the east bay east bay hills picked up 1 to 3 inches in the santa cruz mountains. 10 to 12 inches reported at about 12 25 100 ft up.

now north bay all across the north bay, you're in the midst of it.e for the peninsula in the east bay. zooming in a little bit further. you see some of the heaviest of showers. most notably are right there along highway one at the coast between pacifica and half moon bay. but the energy shifting into our peninsula mountains are right over them on towards sfo and into the city of san francisco. so rainfall intensity is picking up for a whole lot of areas. this is making for a very wet morning commute already now increasingly so for the east bay already having been so for the north bay and that heaviest of rain, the easy to spot from san francisco down the peninsula. those shades of yellow, orange and red indicating that very heaviest of rainfall right now. so a lot going on out there. if you are leaving the house here shortly, do know that it's not super cold. it's just a very wet. we are of a slick morning commute ahead of us. so take it slow or if you're getting outside at our very coal dust, it's only the low 40's while most of us, especially along

you will notice some starts to move into the north bay. we have moderate rain following -- falling through the heart of the bay area and that it starts to exit toward the southeast. and then we have this colder system monday. you can see the pink and white, that is snow falling at higher elevations, toward cloverdale. and it even brings snow toward the santa cruz mountains in the east bay hills. we could see anywhere between two and 4 inches, and 10 or more in the east bay. and tuesday another system comes in. rainfall amounts would be anywhere between half an inch to an inch. and lows tonight will be c in the 30's for parts of the north bay. 40's around the rest of the bay and then it is going to be even cooler on thursday night, tomorrow's highs will be in the low 50's. here is the accuweather 7-day forecast. rain tomorrow and snow, colder on monday, tuesday we have our final system that continues through wednesday. it will be very chilly thursday even though we have sunny warmer days on thursday friday and possibly wet into next weekend.

more without power in the north bay, about 1200 and san francisco. but it really a south bay and the peninsula. we're seeing the worst effects of this. there's roughly about 12,000 people in the south bay without power right now. and you'll notice this cluster of orange. that's where we're seeing the most intense of our outages across the whole peninsula have more than 40,000 customers without power and the bulk of that is this stretch, as you can see from the dumbarton bridge right out towards woodside as far north as redwood city and as far south as stanford and right in the middle of all, that is menlo park. want to zoom in and take a closer look. large pockets in and around menlo park are without power right now. and that's where kron four's michael thomas is standing by with that part of our coverage. michael. >> hi, good morning to you. you know, really still winds that are coming through. when we talk about these power outages right here in downtown menlo park, one side of this entire street is all completely without power. people are showing u

first starting in the north bay with widespread rain. t's moving fairly quickly and falls apart as it moves into the rest of the bay area. scattered showers will continue into the day on friday. a brief break on saturday and then we will see another system coming in on sunday. our expected rainfall totals will be anywhere from a quarter to half inch with a round of rain we will see on friday. on sunday by the time all is said and done, we may see an inch and a half for ukiah and about half an inch for some spots, but mostly about as least an inch of rain for much of the bay area. that's two systems coming in over the course of the weekend. beyond that it dries out, but next weekend, a heads up, there may be a storm system approaching. i will keep you updated as we get closer. we are, of course, focused on this weekend. the next 48 hours will feature rain off and on. no more of the freezing mornings until the systems pass, and then highs will reach into the low 60s with sunshine early next week. >>> mike, you have an update to the traffic

let's head to pete suratos live in the north bay with a look at how the high winds could impact us in the bay area. >> reporter: good morning to you. you mentioned the wind advisory in place. we know some of the higher elevations in the north bay could hit up to 40 miles per hour. so that's something we'll be keeping track of throughout the day. that's on top of some of those colder temperatures we'll see in the region. so of course marin county officials are keeping a close eye on all of this. we did speak with the county's office of emergency management about how they're handling this. like many departments we're seeing around the bay area, they are familiar with these weather events following those january storms. they are going to watch closely the cold temperatures and the strong winds, but they're saying they're not anticipating, at least now, as much damage as those previous storms. >> in terms of the trees coming down with the wind, we think really the danger is somewhat less now because of the storms we had earlier in january and late in december, that weeded out a lot of the

here we are at 4:30, we're seeing rain in parts of the north bay.nto much of the rest of the bay area later tonight and early tomorrow morning. but not everyone is going to see this rain and it's also going to be in and out of here fairly quickly. so by tomorrow afternoon it's clearing out. in all, we're looking at, maybe, a tenth of an inch of rain, while most spots will measure a few hundredths of an inch. it's just enough to wet the lawn and then we go back to dry weather. possibly a weakening storm system on valentine's day but it's going to make temperatures chilly. and we're still not seeing a significant chance of rain here in our seven-day forecast. spotty showers here and there. look at those temperatures. we are going to be very cool over the next few days. in fact, in the mornings next week, we may still be freezing in our inland valleys, and very cold in san francisco as well. >>> mike, you're hearing about a head-on crash? >> yeah, this is just off 580, greenville and patterson, sounds dramatic. details are starting to come in and it so
