now, the north bay extreme far north bay is going to see the rain for three, four and five hours. y north of santa rosa, the national weather service around the russian river at hopland has put in a flood watch as soon as 2:00. this afternoon, where the river is going to rise above flood stage. but right now it's just light rain here, right. santa rosa, 101 guerneville. and the cold front as it begins to move to the south and east, we'll get the heavier rain here. right now. it's been light to moderate from hayward to 8-80 in fremont. sunol 680 a little bit of moderate rain, but then there's a break here along the peninsula, and you can see the line here where the rain is just kind of not quite made it into the south bay. morgan hill, a little bit of shower activity and then into the mountains. we are looking at snow, winter storm warning through 4:00 on sunday and there's an avalanche warning for the back country once again, a weak snow pack as we have really strong winds and more snow coming with the snowpack underneath. not very stable. so that's why there's a chance for potenti

watch out for those patches of dense fog in the north bay. here, once again, we are seeing the clouds stretching in. we are seeing light showers further to the north, although for most of us we are going to stay dry today. tomorrow is when we start to see the bulk of the storm system arriving, and it will be off and on throughout the weekend. before we get the big rainfall, we want to check in on the reservoirs that are pretty low for the south bay reservoirs. lexington reservoir, not even halfway at capacity. it's a lot higher for marin and east bay mudd, but we will most likely continue to see the water levels going up. there's a chance we could see a atmospheric river, and that enhances the rainfall, and so there could be a potential of an inch and a half to seven inches of rainfall. when we get all of the rain coming down with the gusty winds, there could be issues with power. make sure you are prepared for that in advance. we could also see rivers and streets flooding as well. the timeline of the rain starts to arrive during the afternoon

for the past few hours, the rain has been over the north bay, but now it is starting to advance into san francisco, the peninsula, and into the east bay, where we are seeing pockets of heavier rain moving through concord and approaching brentwood, picking up in vallejo, heading toward fairfield. in the tri-valley, the rain is just getting started, but we'll continue seeing the radar filling in for the rest of the day. looking at the heaviest rain, all these bright colors, this is the intense rainfall we'll see shortly after the main evening commute and into late this evening, we are going to have a very gusty wind as well as heavy rain. then it tapers off to some scattered activity. basically anytime tomorrow you could see some rain coming down. we have the flood watch in effect for the bay area. watching those rivers, creeks, and streams, we could get anywhere from 1 to 2 inches of rainfall, some of the higher amounts in the north bay. moving ahead, there is only a brief break before the next atmospheric river comes in, and we're expecting that on sunday morning and continuing into n

north bay may it earlier.give you an update on how we're doing with our rainfall totals for the water year. so we've had a little bit of rain here recently, but still it is not what we usually see. we're still lacking about an inch of rainfall for santa rosa, even though so far we've measured over 14 inches of rainfall. oakland has had 5 inches of rain, but that is 3 1/2 inches below what's normal for this date. so you can see these rainfall deficits that we're running, and the good thing is that we do have some more rain on the way. so i think we're going to make up on those numbers pretty soon here, as we're now starting to see the rain coming into coastal sonoma county. we're tracking it with mobile doppler radar. that will move into the north bay later this morning. you can see the rain as it approaches and a lot of it south of the golden gate bridge will be drying up. a lot of our coastal areas do typically see the light rain earlier than the rest of the inland areas. as we take it hour-by-hour, at 2:00 w
