from the north bay down to the south bay.storm is really going to hit the north bay the hardest, and that's where we see more of the yellows and oranges throughout the afternoon. and even into the evening hours. the north bay will get the most rain. we start to get patches of dry spots along the peninsula and in the east bay this evening, and then notice we get a pretty good break late tonight through tomorrow about noon. that's a great time to clear out the rain uh- shutters and all the rain drains and here is where we start to see the rain start to hit the bay area again. and what we'll notice by tomorrow afternoon is when we see the heavier downpours for almost everybody. widespread rain, north bay, all the way down to south bay and the santa cruz mountains. and that continues tomorrow night and into monday. and the pink and white there that is snow falling in the sierra. so they're going to see lots of snow for the presidents day, presidents day holiday. so because of the cumulative effect and we're going to be inundated

some lightrillionain falling right now over parts of the north bay. we even had a few raindrops over sfo this morning and we're going to see it move in from emeryville. we're looking towards the bay bridge and lots of temperatures in the low to mid 50s. san francisco 54, oakland 55, hayward 56, san jose 54. and we also have 55 in half moon bay and as we show you another live shot in the north bay, this is san rafael. we see temperatures a little bit cooler in the north bay, some low 50s for santa rosa, petaluma, even fairfield in the east bay and concord in the east bay, rather. concord 51 degrees, livermore 49 degrees. right now sfo you can see the runway a bit wet there. today is going to be wet and windy. then tomorrow afternoon and monday a stronger storm arrives and that's why we might upgrade it. the unsettled pattern continues through midweek, so you want to have those umbrellas handy over the next five days. so at 8:00 this morning, you'll notice some of the rainfall still mainly in the north bay. and then it moves through the afternoon by abou

san francisco, and the north bay, therefore the scattered understand chances. overall, we should start off drive for the south bay and east bay. we get another band of widespread rain approaching by 3:00 p.m. tomorrow. this will be moving in from 3:00 to about 6:00 with heavy downpours at times. this will be the last leg of this storm system which should really start to kick out of here by 11:30 tomorrow. rainfall totals, i know you will be happy to see this, a lot lower than what we have seen over three days. trace amounts to about a quarter inch expected for the south bay, peninsula and east bay, up to the north bay around a quarter to half an inch. we will get some rainfall, but it looks nothing like the past two days. keep the umbrella handy and make sure to keep that jacket, as well. 48 for the peninsula, 49 in the south bay, chili's to north bay at 46, and the best chance of thunderstorms for sentences go and the north bay. daytime highs look like this in my forecast, 64 in san jose, 62 in concord. up to the north bay, upper 50s santa rosa to napa. i do se

and that's we have some of those downpours happening in the north bay. and then it starts to roll right through the rest of the bay area. as we work our way into the afternoon. so if you're in san francisco or point south, probably looking okay for the morning. but by the afternoon, looking at for some those downpours. this is saturday night, a little break saturday night into sunday morning before the second hit of rain comes in. so this is the first bit and it's going to be about a half an inch of rain. it can see for most of the bay, but an inch to an inch and a half for the north bay. this is really going to prime the pump for the second system that's going to come in be a bigger impact system, a slower moving system and have a little more staying power. so the time we get to wednesday, you can see with those totals are, you know, pretty impressive. so we do have a flood watch now. this starts sunday morning and goes through wednesday morning. so the beginning of that second storm system you can see we're expecting the possibility of flooding bay area

rain is starting to ramp up a little bit for light rain for the north bay. thunderstorm chance will begin to increase late morning and into the afternoon. really anywhere across the bay area. we're watching out for that for today. now, mike, let's not forget one of the barts lines services is out for today. >> that's right. in fact, it started on saturday morning. it continues until this evening. bart service will be reinstated for the red line starting tomorrow. today, no red line. no service between richmond and this area. not even for the orange line because of the track work that is going on there. they're able to do that even in the rain tough conditions. there say bus bridge in place. that will add a little delay. it's over in this portion of the bay. you see the roadway is light. they plan that bart work for a holiday weekend for many. we're looking at the roadways. we have another issue just popping up. this drive developing for westbound approaching that maze. there is a crash blocking two lanes now. there was a stall and then turned into a crash. we

the north bay getting hit with the wet weather first. now sandbag locations already are set up across the bay area to prepare folks for that incoming atmospheric river tomorrow. we have a live look at the pg&e outage map for you. we're not seeing anything too damaging right now. green, which is the majority of the outages there. that means that fewer than 50 customers are impacted. we will continue to follow those updates for you as the storms move in. >>> just a week ago another storm swept through and took out power for tens of thousands of people across the bay area. many in the dark for days. pg&e says that more than 1.4 million people across california lost power. the major problem was the wind. this time around, pg&e says it does not expect that level of disruption. it does say its crews are prepared and have equipment stockpiled and ready. >>> people in the south bay, though, were among the thousands without power during that last round of damaging storms. last night we found people out and about before the weather hit. this is in

now investigators are looking into the cause of that crash. >> in the north bay, the u.s. t guard has turned operations over to the great fair lawn's national marine sanctuary for this fishing boat that ran aground near bodega bay earlier this month. coastguards been trying to get that fishing vessel free since it went aground and now they say it's more of a salvage operation than anything else because of the unsafe weather and the poor condition of the boat efforts to refloat that boat and relocated further up. the beach have so far been unsuccessful. crews have been able to remove some of the diesel from one storage tank on board, but they don't know how much is still on there. coast guard says an unknown amount of that fuel leaked into the water as they tried to move the boat. the exact cause of the ship's grounding, the amount of diesel fuel in the water that's been leaked. still being determined. a reminder today's the last day to register to vote for the primary election. you can register online or in person at the registrar's office voting for the primaries opens sat

livermore 43, also in the north bay. it's only 44. in santa rosa. ight around the immediate bay area, upper 40s to near low 50s, 51 in san francisco. so here's what it looks like for today. it's still quiet right now. you have a chance to get things done, go outdoors, clear the drains, and then just before lunchtime, we'll start to see the warm front moving through the north bay and then through the rest of the bay area. this is the heavier, steadier rain throughout the afternoon into this evening, and then we'll continue to see some very heavy showers turning more scattered in nature tomorrow. but with the scattered nature, we still could see a chance of isolated thunderstorms. also tomorrow is our best chance for that and also into the central valley. these are higher rainfall amounts all the way into wednesday, so we could see a little less than this. but some areas could reach over 4.5in, like santa rosa and yountville, possibly napa. even san francisco can get up to three inches by wednesday. of course, we'll see less rain in the rain shadowed a

but we all know the conditions are pretty dangerous on the roads yesterday. >> in the north bay, the uard has turned operations over to the great fair lawn's national marine sanctuary for this fishing boat that ran aground near bodega bay earlier this month, the coast guard spent trying to write that vessel since it ran aground. now they say it will be a salvage operation due to the unsafe weather and the condition of that boat efforts to refloat the boat and relocated further up. the beach have been unsuccessful. crews had been able to remove diesel from one of the storage tanks on board, but they don't know how much is still on board. coast guard says that an unknown about a fuel leak from that boat as they tried to move it. the exact cause of the ship's grounding and the amount of diesel that spilled is still being investigated. >> it's 7.38. and today the antioch library is going to reopen after it announced its sudden closure on friday because of concern over crime. the contra costa county library system posted an update on their website saying they were able to negotiate emergen

let's start with the north bay. we are fairly quiet for the north bay right now. a few light showers from vallejo down through richmond where we're at in the south bay, though, from san jose and milpitas snow grade on up to the tri valley might have at times heavy rainfall stretching right there for you. so we're certainly not done with it yet. futurecast shows the spotty showers, especially for the south bay and pockets of the north bay carrying us to the rest of the morning into the early afternoon today will also see some active weather. so watch for those dark clouds, potentially even a roll of thunder, too. today's daytime highs will reach the upper 50's right now. we're not far from that with mostly low to mid 50's for our current temperatures. there's your daytime highs in the upper 50's later on continued chance of showers before a generally calmer evening. as for the roads right now, we are seeing some conditions out there that are absolutely less than ideal. did have an incident on the bay bridge as you're leaving to get into the city setting quite the b

it's a little bit of sign of that thunderstorm activity to come, especially for the north bay later on today towards early afternoon. we do see that potential of this line of showers making its way into the bay area itself right around one to one, 30 on to the peninsula. and just after that until a little bit later on this afternoon for the rest of us. so that line of showers really slow and go making its way across the region as it does. so leaving us with a brief russia, very heavy rain and chance of thunderstorms. hail associated with some of those storms already towards the evening tonight, still hanging on to some residual moisture. spotty showers on into the evening. maybe a roll of thunder. it was well into early tomorrow morning. just barely hanging on to the remnants. come the start of the day tomorrow. rest of the day dries out quickly. and then we'll be looking at a nice break from the rain. finally, areas like santa rosa could see upwards of 3 quarters of an inch if not an inch of more rainfall. today. it all just depends on if you find yourself under one of those heavy dow

in the north bay.in fairfield have arrested a 15 year-old boy tuesday on suspicion of creating a swatting response to cause schools to go into lockdown for several hours last week. friday vanden high school and 2 other schools were placed on lockdown after police dispatch received a call saying that someone at than done had a gun. police say they suspected that the call might be an attempt at swatting and investigation was carried out by the school's resource officer. and that led to the identification of a 15 year-old vanden school. a student as the suspect in on tuesday, officers arrested that boy at his home and he's now been booked into juvenile hall. >> its 6.25, and another bay area tech company is laying off workers. san francisco based docu sign is laying off about 400 employees. the company says the job cuts are part of a restructuring plan. the electronic signature company says that a majority of layoffs are going to be in the sales and marketing divisions. and another business in san francis

next round of rainfall really has its greatest impact on the north bay will all get wet north bay. you definitely get the most of it. then the final we see that one moving through towards later sunday, monday, tuesday, even lingering into wednesday. this one is going to have a big punch for all of us and results in your greatest risk of any sort of flooding. we will be seeing over 7 inches of rain in the santa cruz mountains while 2 to 5 inches for urban areas of the bay. so this is definitely going to be a big rainmaker into the weekend and a big snow maker to a winter weather advisory goes into effect, starting says tomorrow morning through 04:00am on sunday morning. that will be replaced by a winter storm. watch likely to become a warning come late sunday into early next week. we are going to see several feet of snowfall to very crest of the sierra nevada multiple inches up around donner summit, 7 to 9 inches right there along i-80 so expect chain controls and delays. hopefully not any closures. busy ski weekend. so that's the last thing you want to worry about. northern sierras

folks end up in the north bay. you're already using that umbrella. 101 seeing some of that rain right now on the freeway there. so do be careful. speaking up to the north bay up in sonoma county. we also a flood warning. this is in and around spots from great and right on down the road or park. we have some of our creeks and streams that have been rising. so want to be very careful with that. that has been extended now until tuesday at 10:00pm, all told we are also under a flood watch. you can see that coastal flood advisory in the areas in yellow around the ocean side and also the bayside there. the flood watch does go right through wednesday at 10:00am. so just be prepared that if you see any, you know, roads that are a little bit flooded, that that is going to be the case. you have to go around that today. here's the afternoon. it's going to get taking about 4.45 and you can see where things start to get a little bit slower is get to the evening. but even tomorrow still looking out for a few showers. so still so
