like you said earlier, north bay communities will be getting in on the majority of the action. ies will be lucky to get in a tenth of an inch. over the past couple of hours, the storm has definitely arrived. we aren't seeing too much early this morning. the rain showers have arrived. this leading edge of the storm, i don't know how much of this rain is actually reaching the ground. a lot of it is evaporating. it's bringing low hanging clouds, some mist and some drizzle. it is this line though, that is currently sitting up across the north bay. that is likely bringing us measurable rain fall and continue to push south. again, like reed said, 10:00, 11:00 a.m., this is when we are expecting that leading edge of the storm system to arrive. this activity is more just the drizzly, misty action. we are expecting the potential for maybe some gustier winds associated with it. up to 25 to maybe 30 miles an hour. nothing too crazy. and continuing to push across the entirety of the bay area. a line of heavier rain over the oakland hills and down into the santa cruz mountains, but by the ti

we continue to track a wind advisory in the mountains of the north bay. this is already verifying. ning we're seeing winds 50mph, but other areas like parts of the east bay have been pretty windy this morning as well. the next ten days the extended outlook, not a drop of rain is in sight. we'll take a look at those details in one second. here's the frost advisory for the inland east bay parts of the south bay as well. temperatures this morning in these areas. we're finding some neighborhoods in the 30s this morning. here's future weather. we have clear skies right now, a lot of sunshine on the way. we'll have those daytime highs once again getting us into the upper 50s and the mid 60s later on this afternoon, which is pretty close to where we should be this time of the year. winds, though are pretty busy this morning, especially in our hills. we are finding the strongest winds for the next several hours. right around lunchtime the winds really back off and that leads to calmer conditions heading into the afternoon and into the evening. but nonetheless, we do have a wind advisory in

event without any rain elsewhere across the north bay area. looking at a chance of at least light showers making their way into the santa clara valley. that is a trend that will continue into friday late afternoon and evening. we are not talking about any flooding potential but this will help saturate the ground. and subsequent waves move in, that is where we have the potential for maybe a little too much rain in too little time. we are talking about estimates that bring us over 1 1/2 inches of rain in san jose to over 6 inches in parts of the north bay around santa rosa. the boom and bust amounts indicate the high end of the reasonable range of possibilities, and it is still a wide range because this is still a evolving weather pattern for san francisco. we expect about 3 1/2 inches of rain over the next seven days but of things shipped barely 1 1/2 inches of rain would fall. but if we had a jackpot, potentially more than 8 inches of total rainfall. things could go in either direction. it is going to be a stretch of wet weather. the question

and that's for the mountains of the north bay. that's for the east bay hills of santa clara, eastern hills and also the santa cruz mountains. so we've got some gusty winds gusting to 50 miles per hour. and some of the highest locations. otherwise, again, out of the northeast, 20 to 30 miles per hour. some of that wind does help clear our air quality. so we've got good air quality through much of the bay area. now. and you know what? the smoke from the fire is not heading in our direction because of the strong northern and northeastern winds. it pushes the smoke all the way southward toward baja, california and out to sea. so we get the good air quality, but it's terrible air quality in parts of los angeles where that fine particulate matter, which could get inhaled. could cause some serious health problems for us. our wind gusts up to 50 miles per hour really lighting up. this image future futurecast for these numbers in this sept weny's and 30's, even to the 40's and 50's all out of the northeast north northeast, we've got some st

well, north bay, you've already seen a majority of your rainfall. could pick up a hundredth or two of rain from another couple of isolated showers. but again, we're wrapping up on a majority of the moisture this afternoon. and as we step out tomorrow, high pressure building to our south. and it's going to deflect all of the rain, all of the moisture, all of the storms well off to our north. and high pressure will continue to nudge farther and farther north and bring us plenty of sunshine and actually above average temperatures into early next week. do be aware, though, with the departing storm system, we do have a high surf advisory in place starting tonight and continuing throughout the day saturday. so if you do have any beach plans, probably not going to want to actually go in the water. not just because it's chilly, but also because things are going to be churned up a little bit more. we are expecting quite a lot more activity. i don't know what tuesday is on there. excuse me. hopefully this will work now. there we go. friday. yes, today is the

of the clouds yet, but that will change the next several hours, the first showers moving into the north bay before the sun comes up spreading across the rest of the bay area tomorrow morning. the heaviest rain falls tomorrow night into saturday with its first peak of a double-peaked atmospheric river, off-and-on showers in between monday and the next wave of moisture arrives monday night into tuesday. let's look at the floor map here and track what's going to happen as we head through the next 48 hours or so. this first animation takes us from midnight through 10:00 tomorrow morning. this first band of moisture will evaporate on the way down. the showers that come in before the sun comes up hit the ground in the north bay and spread pretty far to the south, but your chances of rain inland in the east valley and santa clara valley remain low the first half of the day. as the rain continues, it will make more progress even into those rain-shadowed spots. from 10:00 tomorrow morning to 8:00 p.m., you can see how widespread the rain becomes. there are some gaps, but keep the umbrella and rain j

we do have fog in the north bay. to that, coming in as a cold storm is moving through california. storm tracker two here. fairly quiet. it is dropping in from the north, so not packing with it. a lot of moisture at this point. a few sprinkles will be a possibility for us. a little bit of snow in the sierra as i'm moving closer. fairly quiet. we may have just a few sprinkles falling below the radar beam. likely to see an uptick later this afternoon into the evening hours, and more so for tomorrow. but all in all, a quarter inch or less expected for the bay area. here's a look at the futurecast model. if we keep an eye on the center of this system here, parked again over us, but then as it shifts south towards southern california, it retrogrades a little bit more and kind of nudges towards the coastline. and even off the coast of point conception. here's tomorrow afternoon. and notice the circular motion going on right in here, allowing it to tap into a little bit of moisture from the pacific. and that is what it will l

in the north bay mountains, gusts from 30 to 45mph. so by the time we get to lunchtime tomorrow, everybody should see those dry offshore breezes. but the wind speeds not too extreme around the bay area. they'll be coming down as we head into monday evening and monday night. and with those wind sheltered areas you're looking at patchy frost possible for tomorrow morning. this includes san jose tri-valley up towards those north bay valleys. and then as we start to see the sunshine and the warmer temperatures tomorrow afternoon, less low clouds, lingering means mostly 60s for highs tomorrow. mid 60s around san jose, close to 60 in san francisco and oakland. now unfortunately, as we talked about high wind warning, red flag warnings back for southern california, we could see mountain wind gusts above 75mph northwest of la into ventura county. so you got the high wind warnings there south of the grapevine and red flag warnings east of santa barbara, around los angeles, through orange county to east of san diego. next two days, locked in by th

evening through 10:00 in the evening saturday on futurecast with the first showers moving into the north bay before sunrise tomorrow and the rain spreading out across more of the bay area, especially with the heaviest rain falling friday night into the first half of saturday. this is the first atmospheric river and the first peak of a double peaked atmospheric river that's going to be heading our way. i do want to show you the amounts we expect with the first peak of the atmospheric river. for most locations around the bay area, between 1 to 2 inches of total rainfall, but the north bay between 2 to 2 1/2 inches of rain with the first wave moving in tomorrow and saturday. let's look at the atmospheric riverside of this. the first peak would rank as an ar2 on the 1 to 5 scale, which is a relatively weak atmospheric river, but it's going to be followed up almost immediately by the second peak in this atmospheric river which by itself would be an ar1 on the 1 to 5 schedule. you combine these. it's going to be an ar3. we can't rule out flooding, but it doesn't look like a significant flooding th

another look from san jose, where there is plenty of fog and reduced visibility from the north bay to the south bay this morning, so patchy frost and fog. so monday. windy conditions in the hills, particularly the north bay mountains, but we'll see those wind gusts all throughout the east bay. the diablo range probably not quite as high. and then beyond that, we'll get into a milder forecast where temperatures will warm up through the 60s, even possibly 70, in the south bay, wave heights currently continue to go up here. so our beach hazards statement until 7:00 for dangerous conditions here all along the pacific coast. and as we look at our wind advisory here, 4 a.m. tomorrow morning through 1 a.m. on tuesday, you can see from clear lake, mount saint helena, the very gusty winds. we've got nothing but sunny conditions throughout your sunday. a little fog comes back, but look at those offshore winds all throughout the day on monday and tuesday. then eventually some higher clouds move in and then the wind gusts there from 30 to 40 miles an hour. so a breezy to gusty day in the upper el

in the north bay village.olice are teaming up with the chp to crack down on sideshows and reckless driving. >> police say that the chp will help new operations in vallejo on the weekends enhancing the number of patrols on the streets there, adding that these extra patrols allow them to more easily stop the sideshows and hold the suspects accountable. this team of this coming after vlachos i 200 cars sideshow on saturday night. the chp track down some of the participating carson only for them, we're told and then placed on a night a 30 day hold. cars that were impounded for that amount of time could face a total of over $2000 in fees. officers say 300 people attended and 2 of the people involved were arrested and 13 others have been cited. in san francisco. an apartment fire has left 8 people without a home in the tenderloin. the fire happened late last night on top floor unit. this was near the compass children's center. they didn't find anybody inside the building and the cause of the fire is now under invest

north bay, lesser amounts in the south bay, a 2:45 quarters of an inch sunday would offer more rain,low totals. san francisco southward, it'd be the north bay with about a half to another one inch. so the big target will be marin, napa, sonoma counties with this. so i wanted to show you how the russian river in guerneville is going to fare. right now it's right around eight feet, but it does look like by sunday night and into monday could get up to about 20ft, not flood stage, which is 32, but we'd see additional rain next tuesday and that could get it even closer to flood stage. so this is one to watch. and if you're headed up to the sierra, wanted to get this warning out here 1 to 2ft over the past level. so be careful saturday and sunday on the 7-day forecast. you see it right here. those on and off chances through wednesday. i really think the days to just be on alert here would be saturday and next tuesday. that's our best chances of widespread heavy rain for the bay area. get your houses ready and your umbrellas. like you said, it's back. thanks, jeff. up next, how silicon vall

a couple of showers showing up saturday morning in the north bay. en by 3 p.m, even parts of santa cruz, the south bay getting in on the action. spotty showers into saturday evening and going into early sunday. not expecting widespread showers, but it will be spotty over mount hamilton. could even see a light dusting of snow. this is all done after sunday morning for the bay area. rainfall projections anywhere from nothing measurable to about 12 hundredths of an inch there. in ben lomond. this does turn to snow in the higher elevations, where a winter weather advisory goes up in the sierra tomorrow morning to sunday afternoon. dusting is possible down to 3000ft, but 4 to 6in above 5000. so your passes are impacted. gusty winds. slippery conditions. chain controls are likely looking at southern california. this is going to be the first winter storm for southern california. they're going to get soaked. they're going to get the snow in the mountains. but this of course with the rain does pose the risk of mudslides and debris flows because of the recent

another concern is there's a high wind advisory that's for the mountains of the north bay. e've got gusty winds starting to form across the entire bay area. not today. we'll see maybe 15 mile per hour gusts. max today. but overnight tonight into tomorrow morning, you see where the winds start to develop just after midnight and by 04:00am. the wind advisory is in effect now. this is for 20 to 30 mile per hour winds across much of the bay area. but then when you head in the north bay interior mountains, we could see some gusts up to 50, 60 miles per hour and the very highest peaks, maybe even 70. so you can see just how brightly lit up this map is. that's what we see the strongest gust as we head into tomorrow morning. in the meantime, today, temperatures, 30's 40's still chilly. 32 degrees right now in fairfield and in fairfax and saying so it's very chilly for slow to warm up with all that cloud cover. 45 degrees right now in san francisco. their quality is ok, it's good to moderate, not great, but at least we're seeing going to start to see some clearing and some gusty wind
