dry airmass will continue to elevate fire danger in the hills early today, particularly in the north bay mts and east bay hills. despite a slight cool down over the next few days, warmer than normal daytime temperatures will persist on sunday and through the upcoming work week, along with dry weather. ( marty ) in the east bay, authorities are investigating a deadly officer involved shooting in danville. police say a young man tried to run over an officer -- who then fired at the driver. here's kron 4's michelle kingston with the story. in the north bay mt. st. helena reaching 66 miles per hour and rose peak 41 and 36 in pleasanton and also seeing some high winds. our humidity dropping down. as we go into the afternoon and into the single digits. relative humidity at about 6% or 7%, critically low and a lot of dry fuels out there, and right now our wind speeds coming in from the northeast at about 15 to 20 miles per hour, and that could get a little bit stronger as we go throughout the afternoon to evening hours. our current temperatures are mostly upper 60s and low 70s and as we go throughout rest of the day south san jose will reach up into upper theresa. and our high temperatures are about ten degrees above normal reaching 79 degrees in san jose and also looking at some upper 70s and low 80s over the next few days, and then as we go into tomorrow, the winds will start to calm down heading into the afternoon to evening hours and hopefully between now and then we don't get any new wildfires spreading and going into the veterans day weekend

north bay and east bay through 6:00 a.m. tomorrow morning. some gusts around the top of mt. diablo and the hills around the north bay close to 40 miles per hour. in the lower elevations not seeing anything in the way of gusty winds but you did notice the temperatures today in the mid 80s inland and still clear skies. san francisco right now at 67 degrees. high of 76 a bit earlier. you see san jose. temperatures still in the 70s. nice evening out there. light jacket by the time it gets to 8:00. temperatures cool. we did see a high of 83 in san jose and still close to livermore. santa rosa. concord and santa rosa today did climb to 87 degrees. now for the morning, at least this part feels more like november. as we have the clear skies. cooling into the 40s and low 50s for tomorrow morning. and our highs tomorrow as the offshore wind pattern will not be as strong. should see mid to upper 70s around san jose into san martin and gilroy. for the tri-valley over toward concord. we'll stim see numbers close to 80 degrees. peninsula temperatures upper 60s and low 70s with mostly sunny

mt. tam where you can see the smokey haze over the bay area, as mike's been talking about throughout the morning. the bad air quality causing major concern for officials in the north>> in fact, dozens of sew moment that county schools will be closed today. we will have the full list at the bottom of your screen. jobina live in petaluma. >> reporter: good morning. several district websites have this warning sign on their home pages explaining that schools are closed today. this one from santa rosa city schools explaining the decision was made last night out of concerns for their students and their facility. at this point it's unclear when santa rosa city schools will reopen but petaluma predicts their kids will be back in class tomorrow. smokey skies are spotted in the bay area. in sonoma county we noted the haze as well as the smell of smoke. a winter "spare the air" was extended. air quality officials recommend people stay inside if they can, especially vulnerable people, like seniors and children. if you have to be outside today, make sure you're wearing one of these n-95 masks. we've done several stories on where you can find these because in many places they a

mt. tam. we expect the winds to ramp up over the next 12 hours unfortunately. red flag warning will go into effect at 10:00 tonight, lasting through tomorrow afternoon. for north bay, the diablo range as well and the santa cruz mountains are typical hot spots, winds out of the northeast will go from 15 to 30 miles an hour sustained with gusts even higher than that, approaching 60 miles an hour, combine that with low humidity once again, we know this recipe this time of year, everything is bone dry. any fair fires that start can spread rapidly. talk about the winds tonight, 10:00, the red flag warning, winds picking up in the north bay, gusting close to 30 miles an hour. sunday morning, we expect the winds to continue to speed up. but 1:00 early sunday morning, the winds are racing out of the northeast, in the north bay hills, anywhere from 20, 30, even higher than that miles per hour. that continues by 6:00 in the morning, the winds are not letting up that dry air moves in once again creating high fire danger. as we go throughout the later morning hours, and to the early afternoon on sunday, we do expect those winds to die down. but overnight tonight, that fire da
