bay, still holding onto the mid-60s in redwood city. farther north we're seeing temperatures dropping off as well, mostly low to mid-60s in the north bay valleysll be some of the coolest spots by early tomorrow morning dropping down to about 50 degrees as we begin the day on thursday. we are going to warm up very quickly. let's look at those forecast low temperatures for early thursday morning and most of us in the low to mid-50s, just the warmest locations staying in the upper 50s, some spots right around 50 degrees in the north bay valley to begin the day. high temperatures warm up quickly. temperatures across the region beginning with the north bay where we start off around 50 and warm more than 30 degrees by tomorrow afternoon, low 80s pretty much for all communities of the north bay, more variation around san francisco and oakland, low to mid-70s with low 80s down the peninsula and redwood city, upper 60s along the coast and half moon bay. you'll see more sunshine breaking through before the fog reforms. low to mid-80s in the santa clara valley, upper 70s around fremont with temperatures inland and the east bay the warmest we can find, ea

some of those north bay valleys looking at the clouds longer tomorrow than typical. in the immediate east bay might stay under that ribbon of gray we're seeing in that time lapse. that might stick around a while. underneath that here's what the daytime highs will be like. mid-70s once again. these are ten degrees below average for this time of year. should be 87 degrees over here in these inland valleys. you'll be in the mid-70s tomorrow. 77 san jose, 76 santa rosa. if you are making plans to go to the street fair or if you didn't know it was even happening, it's happening tomorrow. that'd be a cool thing to go do. but because of its location and that forecast, this will be one of the places in the bay that stays gray longer. so if you like that kind of thing, that's the place to be tomorrow. so what's going on? why are we ten degrees cooler? why is the marine layer a little more persistent right now? wouldn't see it on the regular satellite, now on the water vapor. that counterclockwise spin right there. that's a weak area of low pressure hiding out there. if you lo

here's a look at the fog once again in our north bay valley locations. visibility zero in novato, petaluma reporting just three quarters. santa rosa reporting quarter mile visibility. and this morning, unlike yesterday day napa also reporting some patchy dense fog down to half mile. so this section of the bay area you'll definitely find some very low and close to the ground around the bay, though, to our central and southern portions of the bay. you're in good shape if you need to get onto the highways this morning. here's a look at the 24 hour temperature change. many of us are within a few degrees of where we were yesterday. novato you're up by seven. here's a look at the temperatures. 56. san francisco upper 50s in hayward, 58 over brentwood. do expect the clouds to pull back right around 10 or 11:00. right now we have fairfield reporting an onshore breeze at 14 and backing it up for you here where again we were tracking jova yesterday. it is now pushing off. and we are likely to have the mostly clear skies and slightly warmer for today. a better look

valleys. in the north bay you go to 74 in san rafael.is chance of rain , that you have heard about by now. we have a chance of rain on monday. there is the system responsible. beautifully developed by this afternoon and evening. very strong center of low pressure. it is reached into the subtropics and yes, this is pulling a moderate strength category 2 atmospheric river into it but that is going to the pacific northwest . they will get a pretty good dose of rain and closer to home , on the far northwest coast of california, that will also deliver a large amount of rain for late september. pretty significant system and it is great news for the fire season standpoint. if you look at how the storm comes together right there, that is when it is dropping two to three inches of rain on the smith river complex fire. that has been giving us all the smoke. today the wind clears out most of the smoke. tomorrow we put enough rain on that fire that if the fire does not go out completely, it is certainly not going to be a large smoke producer anymore

bay and the tri-valley. the one place where we see temperatures that are in the in the 50s would be the north bay. and even at that, it's limited bud we're seeing some numbers there in the 40s. take a look at that petaluma number where we're looking at temperatures at 48 degrees. usually cooler in the mornings in the north bay so let's do a comparison. we're going to get rid of the currents and i'm going to bring in the daytime highs and here's the theme with today. just as sunny and just as warm as yesterday. so you might be in the upper 40s now in the north bay, but you are warming up into the low and mid- 80s and let's look at everybody else. we'll take a look at the bay as a whole. and there's a theme. you will be low 70s in the bay. but look at the numbers inland. you are going back up to the mid 80s today. concord you will be there. and antioch you will probably be right around 80. and i'll show you everybody else's numbers coming up in the complete first alert forecast in bit. also get into detail on the chance of rain. for now gianna, how's the drive? >>> a little bit busy out there. darre

afternoon sun, but want to pass on our fire danger index in the upper elevations of the east bay valleys hills in the north interior valleys. that's what we're watching as the north winds get stronger, dries out. the atmosphere takes all of the moisture out of it. so when we have relative humidity, normally 50, 60% in the afternoon, it's down to 20 and 30% right on through early thursday. so that's the system that is allowing for the dry air of the offshore winds. and then we're going to watch this system. it's going to hold together. and by the time we get to late monday into tuesday, this verifies north bay, the coast here could see a few raindrops early next week. as for today, though, it's hazy afternoon sun low 70s san mateo, san francisco, oakland into napa and upper 70s with the hazy conditions in the south bay. so looking better friday into the weekend. jobina >> thank you, lisa. good morning, everyone. quick traffic update for you because there's not too much going on out there that should slow you down. just a minor slowdown in the eastbound direction on 80 at american canyon road due to a rollov

some cooler spots in the north bay valleys will dip to the low 50s, right around 50 degrees in santa rosa to start the day. that is a taste of autumn in the air, but then temperatures are going to warm up. let's check out how much we will warm up. let's start with numbers in the north bay, which will be close to where we were today, in the low 80s in most locations, i think you have a better chance of joining your neighborhood communities in the low 80s. low to mid 70s around san francisco and oakland, maybe up to low 80s in redwood city, a few degrees warmer than today, but still other cities along the coast the half moon bay, santa clara valley, morgan hill fell short of 80 degrees today, i think you make it there tomorrow. fremont, still in upper 70s on east side of the bay, and upper inlet on the east side of the bay. tri-valley and the delta temperatures in the low to mid 80s, but even the warmest spot will fall short of 90 degrees by thursday afternoon. that is the last time we will see temperatures climbing far into the 80s for a few days. take a look at the seven-day forecast

the warm spots are just below 60 degrees in san jose, the coolest spots in the north bay valleys dipping50s and temperatures warm up, even some areas closer to average high temperatures like san jose climbing to the upper 70s. turner and bogey seem content to nap the day away, but could probably be convinced to walk in the cooler morning temperatures. once the fog dissipate, we warm up with highs in the upper 70s, close to 80 degrees in the santa clara valley and the warmest spot far inland in the east bay only up into the low 80s, not a typical late summertime map, but we'll take it. low to mid-70s for the north bay, a mix of 60s and 70s along the bay and mid-60s along the coast. the long range forecast shows a bit of a warm-up by friday, saturday and sunday, low to mid-70s for san francisco and oakland, inland spots more likely to get up to around or above 80 degrees. the hottest spots inland in the east bay up to the mid-80s, staying below 90 degrees. along the coast after mostly gray skies tomorrow, i think you'll see more sunshine peek through as we head into the weekend. never too
