and the advisory is for our north bay valley locations. but as sal mentioned, we're seeing pockets of it throughout many parts of the bay area, including this live look here at oakland and my goodness crew on the water temperatures are in the 40s and low 50s this morning and it is foggy out there and they are still out early on this monday morning. how about the fog advisory? so it is for our valley locations and that's where we are seeing it. widespread said santa rosa, petaluma, novato, napa, all reporting quarterly mile or less. you get over towards fairfield along i-80 less than half mile reported there shifting into the central and south bay oakland one of the spots reporting quarter mile visibility. we do have a okay visibility for the inner east bay. they're reporting 8 to 10. temperature wise, we are cooler this morning compared to yesterday, down by nine degrees in petaluma, down by three at sfo and the afternoon highs here showing you widespread 40s, upper 40s right now in areas like napa, 52 in oakland our afternoon highs are goi

but our north bay valleys and our east bay valleys have been dropping earlier into the 30s.petaluma right now at freezing petaluma and santa rosa 34 in napa. so another hour or so you'll still be in the 30s, but climbing out of there slowly while we're in the upper 30s in concord. livermore is at 44 degrees and our forecast highlights. then the freezing temperatures in the valleys for another hour or so. and then we have another freeze warning tonight for the same spots and then for your sunday, not quite as sunny. a few more high clouds as a weather system gets a little bit closer to northern california. we're staying dry, though, for the weekend and beyond. in fact, temperatures will get even milder into the 60s and mid 60s for many of us around the bay. this is your saturday where we're looking at partly cloudy to mostly sunny conditions. and then as we transfer into your sunday, there's that system that's bringing in the high and mid level clouds but it washes out and then into monday, we're looking at partly cloudy conditions. and this is when we begin our a bit of a wa

maybe a little black ice in some of the north bay valleys. we will talk more about that coming up in just a few minutes. thanks, lawrence. now to a developing story in the south bay where police in sunnyvale. >> investigating the death of a 4 month-old. this is at a daycare. their heartbreaking. it happened just before 4 o'clock yesterday afternoon. kron four's rob nesbitt spoke with police about the investigation and what parents should know when it comes to their own child care. >> no answer thursday at the address of yoyo daycare in sunnyvale, police were called to the day care inside the plaza del rey mobile home park wednesday afternoon for the report of a 4 month-old not breathing, according to captain eoin league for this type of we send a fire personnel patrol base personnel as well as our an ambulance. >> so upon arrival, they discovered the 4 month-old was not breathing. so immediately began a life saving measures which included cpr. those measures were not successful. and the baby was pronounced dead at the scene. according to capta

bay. if you look inside some of the low spots, we're developing low stratus clouds. there's the tri-valley, santa clara valley, the entire bay and north bay valleys as well. this is what it looks like when we develop radiation fog. it's not like the normal stuff we get in the summer that's relatively high. this develops in the bay near the ground, and can usually be a bigger issue for fog. so tuesday morning, early heads up on that. we had quite a fog issue last week. now the rain. we look at the storm track, and you can see the systems for now want nothing to do with us. then the next line develops. another cut off low develops right back there. see it? sits there and spins for a few days. this is what the season has been like for us so far. they're difficult to forecast because they're not being pushed along by the storm track. they're cut off from the jet stream and just sit out there and wobble. so we have to look at it this in a slightly different way. this is one model's depiction of what it will look like. but the best way to forecast a low like this is use the ensembles that gives the consensus in different forecast runs. even

we have freeze warnings and freeze watches posted for the north bay valleys. temperature is the coolest location starting out the day in the upper 20s to the lower 30s. so definitely a noticeable change with the temperatures. first thing tomorrow morning there. santa rosa, 29, oakland 42 degrees and san jose starting out the day in right around 40. so here's that cool system linked up with the rain showers from earlier this afternoon. right now, we have high pressure trying to build offshore. so this will keep us dry. that's going to keep us at least maybe with mostly sunny skies into the weekend. but that cold air continues to trickle in. so you'll notice with the with the overnight lows and the afternoon highs as well. temperatures on the cooler side. here's the forecast model for your friday. mostly sunny conditions into your saturday, maybe just a few high clouds drifting into the bay area. but the weekend is looking fairly nice around here. take a look at the numbers for tomorrow after that chilly start tomorrow morning. somewhat of a recovery into the af

thickest fog is certainly in the north bay, but areas around the bay shoreline are dealing with reduced visibility as well. a dense fog advisory is in effect for the north bay valleys to linger for much of the morning. so reduced visibility out there, turn on those low beams, drive slow, add some extra distance to the cars around you because the fog lingers until 11 a.m. this morning. here's how the day breaks down. we'll have brighter skies developing around lunchtime with mostly sunny conditions this afternoon. and those numbers on the mild side, upper 50s to the mid 60s. that's the forecast. let's see how traffic's doing with this fog. good morning, gloria. yeah you know, drew, because of that fog, it is slowing down traffic in some areas. >> i know. i was driving extra slow because it could be hard to see out there. so this is a live look right now at a richmond-san rafael bridge camera. and you could see, of course, that ziggler is still in effect with a three right lanes blocked and there's about a two and a half mile backup right now as you approach the toll plaza right there. and then a look at your mass transit for today. so far everything is running on ti

valley. and waking up in the low 40s. some high clouds at times, cool high temperatures around the inland east bay and north bay valleys. 60s the santa clara valley. later in the evening, christmas night, we have christmas night football at levi stadium. mostly cloudy skies, should be in the mid 50s. but not rain producing clouds. we have clouds passing by the bay area. by wednesday now, changes coming our way. especially for the north bay. you see the area of red showing up in sew know ma county. may see an inch of rain in the north bay with the first of two storms arriving midday wednesday. by thursday we see showers move out, very briefly, followed up with what looks to be a stronger storm lining up on the bay area for friday evening, wind and rain on that friday evening commute and then more showers as we head into the weekend. so that second storm likely to bring more significant rainfall. notice how the red is not just the north bay, the santa cruz mountains, east bay hills. so the bay area seeing a half inch to one to two inches of rains around the mountains. but good news for the ski resorts, we'll get colder air wi

in light of that, the national weather service has issued a flood advisory, north bay valleys are included, so is the city, peninsula and east bay shoreline. that is about to march across much of the bay. we are going to use the virtual map and we are going to put the numbers on here for the rainfall because once again, we have a very impressive story for where the rain has already come on shore, that did go to the north bay first and you can see we already have over one inch of rain. why that matters is because this is going to be able to duplicate that over much of the rest of the bay, not just santa rosa. we are all going to get our fair share over the next three or four hours. and we have another high surf warning for tomorrow. >>> thank you. santa cruz county continues to take the brunt of these extreme weather incidents. take a look at the flooding waves just crashing into a cafe. this is at venous pie trap near the beach, it is now closed until further notice. and this is the mess at rio delmar beach where surging waves brought all of this debris past the shore and the high surf war

the skies are going to be cool to cold, dipping down to near freezing in the north bay valleys and near the water, mostly in the low 40s, that is below average as well. amateurs tomorrow are going to warm up quickly, low 60s in the santa clara valley and inland temperatures , as a matter of fact, all temperatures are going to be a mix of upper 50s and low 60s normal high temperatures for december 9th, between 58 and 60 degrees, we are going to be within a couple of degrees on either side of that. the seven-day forecast includes a little bit of a warm-up, we will take a look at the inland seven-day forecast which includes temperatures hitting the mid-60s by monday, tuesday, and maybe a little bit of a cooldown by wednesday and thursday and friday. temperatures around that they are going to be almost identical, this is the time of year we don't see very much variation. just some clouds here and there, sunday and monday, passing clouds, more substantial cloud cover could be rolling towards us by friday, literally the last day of the seven-day forecast and if we see any rain, it'll be frida

really key to this is we're seeing that dry air kind of settling in outside, especially in the north bay valleys. and that's been the case. temperatures dropping off already were in the 40's along the pacifica. 48 in little more look at the north bay. how about that? 38 degrees right now in calistoga. 41 in kelsey bill. so, you know, we're going all that cold air kind of settling in tonight. and these temperatures going to be frigid. so the national weather for 2 nights in a row now has issued freeze warnings up for much of the valleys in the those cold temperatures are right down to the valley floor that you find that cold air kind of cooling in the morning hours. so likely to see some frost all the way from mill valley through bottle all the way in the santa rosa healdsburg then stretching back again into the up the napa valley to very cold temperatures down probably in the low 30's below freezing overnight. tonight into early tomorrow morning. a very cold start your weekend numbers. here's the forecast numbers overnight tonight about 30 degrees below freezing in santa rosa. 32 right at the fr

the usual pattern of the north bay valley collecting the cold air. starting off in the middle 30s.arm up 30 degrees into the lower to middle 60s by tomorrow afternoon. the rain chances are not too far away. let's take a look at what we expect for our forecast models side by side. we will start the clock here on saturday. we have the american forecast model and the european model. the two long-range models looking more than 72 hours in advance. they have similarities and differences. one of the differences is when the rain will arrive. it pushes the rain in after midnight on saturday night and sunday, a wet day while the european model says off and on showers in the forecast for sunday. another difference is how they are depicting the snow levels in the sierra optimistic adding up a lot of the snow there. pushing the snow line higher and higher in elevation. the more realistic scenario given the tropical nature of this. they agree, sunday night, monday, going to be wet. and showers are going to linger into tuesday. even the potential for another wave of heavier rain in the forecast

so north bay valleys will be targeted for the colder temperatures that we'll see.d get as low as 30 degrees and still looking at upper 30s elsewhere for our interior valleys and be prepared for cold mornings and we're heading back to some dryer conditions and looking at our seven-day forecast and we'll see temperatures in the low 60s and our overnight temperatures will be much colder and dropping down into the mid-30s and then for san francisco, expect temperatures in the mid-40s as we get started. turning now to our climate in crisis with weather becoming more extreme across the country. noaa is expecting that communities will spend much more on disaster relief. already this year the u.s. will spend double the annual average on climate-related disasters. they're looking for solutions to keep people safe. this past month california was hit by serious storms which caused major damage to communities like pajaro and capitola. people are still rebuilding months later. over in new york experts are trying to deal with the extreme by creating a first of its kind state wea

it might be a little bit colder in the north bay valleys, but not terribly so. here is the system that is going to bring us that small chance of rain. here it goes. most of it goes to the south, but some of it gets thrown up our way. that is system one, that gives us the offshore wind for the fog. that is the next system that gives us rain. if we time this one out, this is getting tuesday. mid night into wednesday morning. then you get your showers there wednesday morning and lingering into wednesday afternoon and evening, before that comes to an end. if you look at rainfall totals from that, we can pick up about half an inch to three quarters of an inch of rain on wednesday from that system. the seven-day forecast, you can see that system coming in wednesday. there is another one showing up on saturday. northbay shows that it might come in tuesday night and wednesday. the neck system for saturday might come in tonight, saturday for there is always an outlier like that. neck system is wednesday, perhaps another one by saturday of next week. back to you. >>> comi

still, we are looking at a dense fog advisory that will be in the north bay valleys. fall going to be particularly dense there overnight tonight should clear out, though, as we head through the morning tomorrow. take a look at this dramatic video shared by an east bay business. it captured a store employee scaring off a group of >> would-be thieves. it happened around 4.30 monday evening at estates, consignment store in pleasant hill. the owner tells us 10 men came in carrying sledgehammers and tried to go directly for the jewelry cases. but the employee with his gun scared him right off. owner says no shots were fired. there was no confrontation. police also responded immediately. kron four's going to be speaking with the owner of that store tomorrow. be sure to tune in for the full report. tonight, we're learning more about a woman arrested for the murder of a man at crissy field in san francisco. she told investigators she's a worker and the man she allegedly killed was her client. she confessed that she shot him after he after he learned she was transgender and he

if you take a look at futurecast here, you can see it developing in the north bay valley. this is what i want you to see. look at the numbers as we get towards 9:00 a.m. 0.3, that's it as far as you can see down the road in miles. so it will be foggy for some of those valleys. we'll probably see it for the inland valleys as well. give yourself extra time on the road tomorrow if you've got to be out and about early tomorrow morning on the road. if you're going to the central valley, plan on fog when you get there. the morning lows will be fine in the low 40s. daytime highs in the upper 50s, right on the mark for average. to show you more of those clouds, this is tomorrow. we're under that stuff and it will not be a total grayout. you won't get a beautiful blue sky tomorrow. on again, off again clouds after that fog will melt off. behind those clouds, there are two storms that are going to bring us rain this week. we'll watch that first one not have an impact. we might get a stray shower in mendocino county tomorrow. but not in any lower elevations. there is no rain in the f
