i'm a resident of north beach. i'd like to use the overhead projector. the project i'm talking about today is called the palace option on the subway. this is the central subway here and it ends up in chinatown. the option is a alters extension that don't nothing for the subway. however, this is a blowup where the tunnels will come out of the beach. this the the opening to remove the tunnel machines. this is washington square park. in the noise. so a few weeks supervisor farrell and mayor lee annuity that our shortfall would be 2 had the 3 you million dollars. and the subway did a study that has a $202 million shortfall. so i hope you're looking for ways to reduce the shortfall and the shortfall will have to be filled in by local fund. my recommendations you pile those $79 million back into the central >> the contract was about $120 million over budget. it's a contractor that is an aggressive contractor. the major construction hadn't started the mta recommended 2 hundred and thirty million and the mta projected an 80 percent actually confidence about $421

a project by way of tunnel leading into chinatown by way of north beach. in december the first streetcar was driven into the tunnel. just two years after its berth, muni had added two lines. and k, l and m lines that span out from westportal. in 1928, the j line opened heading west to the beach. in 1944 san francisco voters finally approved muni take-over of the market street railway. by then motor bus and trolley bus improvement had given them the ability to conquer san francisco's hills. after the war most of the street-car lines would be replaced with motor or trolley bus service. in 1947, the mayor recommended replacing two lines with motor coaches. and it appeared that san francisco's iconic cable cars had seen their final days. entered mrs. cluskin, the leader to save the cable cars. arguing that the cable cars were a symbol of the city, and she entered a charter placed on the november ballot. it passed overwhelmly. the california street cable railway was purchased by the city in 1952. there were cut backs on the cable car system and in 1957 only thr

the t line is underway but the t line will not be finished until he continues to north beach and fishermen swarf. we need to look at how the t line can be connected to them. drug and alcohol abuse. the effects of homeless and substance abusers is great. we need more b cops, and beginning to hear from both the officers and homeless advocates the same story; the officers call it the drug tank. the homeless calls it the detox center. more and more i hear call for a place where people can be taken especially during the day, cared for and given access to city services and not endangering the families and the children and the tourists who come to north beach. polk street, and broadway, are old, hallowed traditional corridors for the city; they are not in the spotlight right now like a mission district or some of the new emerging neighborhoods but these are street i need not just bulb outs and bicycle lanes; they needed deep look at the economic conditions and the effect on the surrounding neighborhood. those are my ideas.
