there's a famous district in chicago called earmuffs, which has a blob north of chicago, and then a blob south side of chicago. and then it's connected by a highway. where nobody lives. well, that's preserving the latino population. it's giving it's a representative to the latino. and you have to have contiguous districts not broken up. so hence that little highway there. so so just weird looking districts are not enough of a reason to claim gerrymandering, right. to take to take the map to courts but math can help in teasing out what's behind the weird looking district and sometimes loser may not look weird, but it might be by me. gerrymandering. so there are very cool techniques that have arisen in the last 1015 years that use a lot of data science, technology to to analyze, to maps and to help us say when we're with high probability that a map has gerrymandered but they don't do unfortunately is give you the perfect where they can suggest maps are better than the one you're analyzing but that guarantee that there isn't even a better one out there somewhere that you should be employing

washington and but that it turns out northwestern is actually in evanston, illinois, on the north side of chicago. i knew from skokie my parents had friends in skokie, but i didn't where evanston was. and so my best friend, jay and i drove up in our car and i saw northwestern had two beaches, and it was beautiful. and i had at that point, only to go to university of illinois. so i applied to two schools in illinois, which i got into. and then northwestern which i got into, and then they gave me a scholarship that equalized the cost. and i went there and and actually it was i was really glad i did and law school went to law school at harvard law school. i had no particular desire to go to harvard, any other school. again, i got a great outside score and it turns out i could get into harvard law school. but the reason i the main reason went to harvard, apart from the fact that, well, you know it's harvard, is that i did plan to spend my entire life as a criminal lawyer in chicago. i love chicago, and i plan to spend life there. and i really thought that if i didn't go away at some point in my life
