baltimore, metro area. you can see the thunderstorms north of us, they're moving to the east, south east. what we're watching into the important evening hours tonight. we all want the thunderstorms to stay away for the fireworks. we'll keep an eye on that for you. we'll switch it over and show you, there's a warning for the southern parts of the state until 10:00. this is an alert in effect today. the humidity levs were high -- levels were high. the temperature levels are borderline for the levels. 88 degrees in baltimore and 90 in d.c. and easton. the dew points have come down since yesterday. you can tack a couple of degrees on for the heat index. this is not far above it. this is going to continue. this is because of this front in here. this is going to stall out over the area. as long as this around, the chance of a thunderstorm is possible for each and every day. into the middle part of the week, another front will be coming our way. this is going to push the front away. we'll have the chance for scattered shower and thunderstorms with it. while that's happening, temperaturewise, you

east. >>> take a look live downtown. we'll have a tough commute on the evening. when it rains lightly, it slows everything down. it will be raining hard around most of baltimore. winds from the north at 10 as the front pushes in. as we time lapse this over baltimore, the downpours are coming in and dousing the camera over. then, that's the storm coming in. we have wet, unsettled weather. then, the storms roll in here into the afternoon. it's tough to even see here. 1.72 inches in cockeysville and millersville, 2.74 inches of rain. the big thing here, even up at churchville, it's come down in a matter of a few hours here. that's why we have the period of run off and flash flooding possible. if you see the flooded roadway, don't take the chance. 6 inches of water is all it takes to move a vehicle. 82 at easton and the showers haven't gotten in there yet. the humidity is high statewide. we have good news for the weekend. this boundary will push out of here and as a result, potential for flooding and the sticky, uncomfortable air will be pushed offshore. it will be hot and closer to 90 this weekend, but the shower threat will diminish. it will clear out by 10:00 and by 5:00 a.m., it s

north and east. real rough travels in that direction. all right, here it is for you. flash flood warning continues for hartford county. flooding in low lying areas. severe thunderstorm warning for baltimore city. see it coming down the roads. 90 right now. that's helping fuel some of the storms and i want to take a look at different cameras here. this is the city itself. see things getting awfully wet. now watch as we put the skies in motion over the city here. we'll see right at the end, things take a turn for the storm here. a different perspective here near the park. you see the skies changing into the afternoon as the stormy conditions begin to kind of take over. humidity helping to fuel these storms. no question about that. 93. the current heat index downtown, 95 in annapolis. you have that much heat and humidity around, you get a storm cell coming in no matter what the direction is, you will tend to get some intense weather. again that's why we have that severe thunderstorm warning for the city and county right now and a flash flood warning for hartford county. here's that boundary that is helping to spark these storms. the hot, humid flow out ahead of this. this has to be on top o

north and a flash flood watch through the entire area tomorrow. we have one indicator where we picked up more than 3 inches of rain. we had one spot on the east side of baltimore. we captured the us guys turning unsettled as the storm system came into baltimore in the evening, reaching all the way into the inner harbor. a stormy scenario here in as we work into the evening hours. right now, things are relatively quiet downtown as you go north of the city, things change quickly. 75 in the wake of the storm's humidity, average as lehigh, 80- 90% humidity. it is a scheme that. this will shift slowly south tomorrow and. >> another focusing point for showers and storms on and off through the day tomorrow. you see this boundary draped across the east coast and hot, humid air surging northward. the battery will move slowly southward and is two different air masses, the drier ones over the great lakes and this one over the carolinas coming together, clashing over maryland tomorrow afternoon and will be more showers and storms, especially in the heat of the afternoon. we are showing, basically, the pop-up showers and storms all over the place about 6:00 tomorrow and as

north of dover. south of baltimore now, southeast of washington. and you see the activity is moving off nicely now to the east. so you folks, unfortunately, on the eastern shore and southern maryland, you're had the next in line. around the city now, north of downtown, it has ended. heavier showers east of the city. from middle river, perry hall, down to northern a.a. county. west of the city, as you can see, that is the end of the shower activity. west of butler. severna park and annapolis park. east of d.c. and actually, much of p.g. county, going to be shortly into portions of charles county, severe thunderstorm warnings for you folks. that's where the strongest activity now is easton, where it's still 90 degrees. this has the potential to cause very strong storms. upper eastern shore, middle eastern shore. and that stuff continues to move off to the east and southeast. from the city now, north and west, some breaks in the cloud cover already. as you can see, that's the end of the rain. i do expect to see some cancellations of these watches shortly. let's take a look at temperatures around the region. down

north of baltimore. now we have quite a bit of cloudiness around. a few breaks in the clouds. there are those showers just eastf richmond. they're going to be heading toward the northern neck in another half hour or so. expect flooding rains there. for us, there is the sunrise. sun came up just a couple of minutes ago. still obscured by the eastern clouds. by 9:00 near 80 degrees. little sunshine in and out. those heavy downpours from time to time, especially south and east of us this morning. then around much of the region this afternoon and into this evening with thunder and lightning. again, there is a flood threat from these torrential downpours we may have later this afternoon and overnight tonight too this flood threat exists all the way into tonight. so watch out for high water if you plan on getting out and about on this friday night. there certainly could be some road closures due to creeks and streams coming out of their banks. that would be overnight tonight. then things will settle down for the weekend. maybe a lingering shower very early saturday morning. sun back in the afternoon a little less hu

showers and thunderstorms from almost baltimore on the east side of 95 all the way to the east in through prince george's county and backcrossing over 95 just north of fredericksburg. these are heavy rainfall makers and a lot of flash flooding going on. so, don't cross a flooded street by car or by foot. we'll zoom in. see the reds here. that's rainfall rates of one to two inches per hour. thankfully, the storms are moving east at about 15 miles per hour. heavy rain in woodmore and davidsonville. also heavy rain upper marlboro. it will head toward shadyside and head off to the east. now, we'll move back to the southwest and this is very heavy rain. i mean just around garrissonville over toward -- south of woodbridge, it is just about to cross 95. this is going to go into southern maryland around charles county, hughesville and the reds again, one to two inches per hour. big time rain. now, we'll back the radar back out a little bit. kind. widen it out. we'll show you where all of this is going to go in the next hour. it will push across east. it will hold together. it will stay pretty intense in terms of rainfall rates but it should be almost eas

north of hereford park. all across northern park. and a heavier band here you can see around glen rock, maryland line, shrewsbury. that's all moving across extreme northern baltimore county. another storm just to the eastland. so we have storm activity in the region. it looks like the balance there will be just around the maryland-pennsylvania border, south of washington. don't expect to see a whole lot. but tomorrow, the same front is going to sink a little further south. and we have chances for heavy, heavy rain and thunderstorm activity again tomorrow. there's a little more widespread than today, looks like. >> okay, bob. thank you. >>> let's check in on the roads now with kristy breslin at wjz traffic control. >>> the harrisburg expressway, still quite a scene there. heavy congestion in the northbound direction, from shawan to belfast. it will take you at least 20 minutes to get through. 20 minutes on the west side inner loop as well. that's from wilkens avenue. average speed, about 45 miles an hour. over on the north side inner loop, sluggish there from york road to perring parkway. and 70 westbound, can't catch a break there. very heavy to marriottsville road. as far as the situation on the harbo
