tons of rocks and muddied not enter the home along north ferndale avenue. in other part0s the city, flooding is a problem. john alston has more on the storm's impact. reporter: the rain has picked up over the past few minutes and the flood waters have started to rise gradually over here. you can see water now covering this manhole cover in the street. you may see water gurgling up. you see water up to the sandbags in front of the 2:00 a.m. club here. trouble started brewing at 11:00 last night with a high tide. the 2:00 a.m. club is already in low-lying area on miller avenue. he water did recede overnight, and then another high tide came rolling in at around 7:30 this morning, and that is when the water backup was fully on, like a bad horror movie where they say, get out. the water is coming from inside the building. >> getting a reverse high drawlic effect. creek was pushing water through the storm drains, into the building, and then also all of our floor drains, toilets, and other drains were taking water on. so we were actually filling up from the inside

. >> also in mill valley today, huge mudslide stopped just short of going into a home on north ferndale avenue. looks like the earth just gave way. crews set up netting to prevent nor dirt from coming down. miller avenue was underwater, several businesses were flooded. this area gets flooded often during prolonged storms. >>> one spot in the north bay is getting a good soaking and that is mt. tamalpais in marin county. you can see the rain here live. more than a foot of rain has drenched this area since the storm moved in on friday. flooding has become a real problem across the north bay. our team coverage continues now with nick smith in schellville. >> you know, the north bay is under a flash-flood watch until at least 9:00 p.m. tonight. heavy periods of heavy rain are expected throughout the evening. the ground is saturated. meaning that any rainfall will have no place to go and it will look much like what you see here. >> this is what drivers headed into sonoma ya county faced since this morning. a steady, heavy rain, painting everything with the same wet gray brush. the only splash

. >> reporter: now, on north ferndale also in mill valley mud came down into a back yard and damaged a shed that was there. also over the weekend a jeep plunged down a hillside sunday, search and rescue teams found a body of a man near a home on woodbine, unclear if it was related to the weather. again, water moving very quickly this morning, and even though it's not raining right now, one thing i did notice in walking around shooting pictures to tweet out, is that all of the gutters even though it's not raining, they are full of mud. sow might want to put on the boots. i'm going to send it back to you. >> excellent. excellent work out there this morning. and you know what, i'm happy to report that they picked up nearly a foot in mill valley. we'll talk about some of the other impressive areas that we're watching coming up. back to you, scott and laura. >> in fact, we're going to take you live outside for a look at some of the roads across the bay area. this is san jose. as christina said skies are clear but the roads remain wet as the south bay drys out from all of that weekend rain
