we will have a look at the current conditions in north hampton, new hampshire. >> i am in north hampton, new hampshire, where the rains have eased up global -- a little, but the wind continues to whip things up. one of the concerns along the seacoast is the tidal surge. astronomically high tides expected at around noon and midnight. that could lead to some beach erosion and some minor flooding. new hampshire is only anticipating about one-3 inches of rain. -- 1-3 inches of rain. the wind gusts are expected to go from anywhere from 50-60 miles per hour. that could lead to extended power outages throughout the state. utility crews have been brought in from as far away from wisconsin and texas. utilities tell us they are ready. they are already dealing with some power outages. hundreds have been reported. hundreds of schools have closed today in anticipation of problems along the roads. the worst is expected to hit around noon. once again at midnight -- until then, the crews are on standby. the governor has not declared a state of emergency, but he has mobilized 100 members of the new hamp

hampton and the water's a concern. it's the sustained wind we're experiencing that are getting progressively worse. outage imagine, long island has 175,000 customers that are without power. we just got word from north shore of long island that people are losing power every -- every few minutes it gets worse and worse. now, when it comes -- where we are behind me is atlantic ocean. high tide around 8 p.m. where i'm standing now could very well be under water. the north side is where they're actually a little more concerned on long island sound because if the storm follows this path, they might have the -- a problem with wind. but their water problems might be far worse. even though it's hard to explain, we're lower on the water table, but a lot of properties are up on the hill on the north side it's much more flat. as you well know, maria, there are incredible properties in this area worth millions and millions of dollars. and the concern is -- right now just roof damage and a lot of tree damage and sea fences. >> unbelievable. brian, thank you very much. i guess the issue is, are we going to see the ocean and the bay meeting, because the water levels are rising so much? of course, u.s. markets are

north shore, believe it or not, there's more damage because of the storm surge onisland sound. i talked to bill wilkinson the town supervisor, a retired disney executive who decided to run east hamptonmen told him they have never in their whole lives seen as much water come in as came in yesterday, so it's a big contrast. we have a beautiful ocean, a destroyed coastline on the south shore. on the north shore they're trying to assess the water damage. the one road out of here did breach, i was told, and was in about three or four feet of water overnight. they got in the bulldozers, they block or rebuilt a dune and this has drained. there is a road to get out of here although they're telling people to stay put for another day. we have a crew to see other parts of the north shore, we'll try go live in our next report. right now it's about assessing the damage and here at the gurney's inn there's potentially millions of dollars worth of damage. >> brian shactman in montauk thank you for the update. >>> coming up in the next half hour a market update from barclays barry knapp, the latest from the power outages from pse&g president ralph larosa and updates along the new york and new jerse
