this breaking news in north hampton county. right now crews are checking a gas line. investigating it to make sure it's not ruptured. this situation has forced the evacuation of more than a dozen homes in bethlehem, north hampton county. the gas line situation is happening on hampton road and jesse gary arrived there a few minutes ago on scene. jesse, it wasn't a gas line that led to this problem. tell us what happened there. >> well, chris, initially, it was a water main break that brought utility crews out here. i'll move out of the way. while they were fixing that, a sinkhole developed under a ugi utility truck and you see the sinkhole right there. they are looking into the sinkhole to see if a four inch natural gas line has ruptured. if it has not, they are going to check each one of these 20 plus homes that have been evacuated to make sure damage to those homes and those gas lines before they lift the evacuation order. right now those residents are out of the home because of the fears there could be a crack or slight break in the four inch natural pressure gas lin

crews are working to repair a sinkhole that forced evacuations at more than a dozen homes in north hampton county. this happened on hampton road in bethlehem just after midnight. jesse gary is live on the scene there. first off, are people still out of their homes? >> vai, they are still out of their homes and going to be out of their homes for a little bit because they have to finish making repairs. right now repairing the initial problem and this water truck just kind of pulled in front of our cameras. you have a hard time seeing beyond it. but there is a sinkhole there and they are expanding and digging it out. you can see the back hoe and the front end loader working and a dump truck behind that and digging it out and putting the dirt into the dump truck. try to repair the initial problem that led to the sinkhole that is a water main break. that caused this utility truck when it arrives on scene to fall into the sinkhole. we talked to the chief of the town. the fire department and he picked up the story from there. >> he was going to disconnect the power to the house. >> the sinkhole just ope

"eyewitness news" reporter matt rivers has the latest from northampton. >> reporter: jessica padgett disappeared last friday. her alleged killer her stepfather was charged with her murder five days later. >> he did admit that he intentionally and knowingly caused the death of the victim. >> greg gary graph was at his northampton home when she arrived friday morning to sent a fax. a confrontation began ending with graph shooting padgett in the back of her head as to why -- >> there's clearly some motive that involves a sexual assault. >> reporter: during his confession, he also told investigators he buried her body behind a shed on his property. that's where police found her wednesday morning. >> it's just been -- i really have a hard time putting words to it. >> reporter: jim wilkins lived across the street from padgett a woman he called kind hearted he organized search parties in the days following he
