now, we heard from kim jong un last week and -- and other north korean officials have all been sayingo the south korean side to -- to change their ways. saying that they need to abandon, quote, double standards and delusion for criticizing north korea in what it calls its self-justified self-defense testing. now, we have seen an uptick in testing from north korea. there is no doubt about it. in recent weeks. just last week, there was a hypersonic missile tested. also, an anti-aircraft missile. and before that, there were what pyongyang called strategic cruise missiles tested. but what north korea is saying is that south korea is doing a similar level of testing. we've certainly seen south korea increase its testing of -- of missiles in recent months. and they are saying to north korea, don't criticize us. if you don't, then potentially relationships will get better. relations between the two countries, even alluding to the fact that there could be another summit between north and south korea. but pyongyang making it very clear that it's up to seoul to -- to change its ways, and to act

we know that south korean officials have spoken to the north korean officials on these hotlines this morning, but we don't know how long it will last. we did hear what the south korean official said. quote, it's been a while, and i'm glad that the communication lines have been restored like this. i hope the inter-korean relations can develop into a new era now the communication line has been restored. certainly seoul is putting a positive spin on it, and it was the north korean leader himself, kim jong-un, who floated the idea last week of these hotlines being reinstated. we've also been hearing from north korea that they advised south korea to abandon, quote, double standards and delusion, saying that north korea has the right to test weapons, to self-defense, especially at a time when we're seeing south korea testing its own missiles. we have seen a number of missile tests from pyongyang in the last week, in the last few weeks, including a hypersonic missile, what they call strategic cruise missiles, also anti-aircraft missiles. so we have seen an uptick in the amount of new weapons

so the americans, for example, would like to see what kind of weapons north koreans have developed. we'd actually like to get our hands on like on a particular warhead and a specific on a warning. so maybe they could give us that an exchange for repealing i don't know like the ban on selling coal, which is something where you would like to do some money maker for them. i mean, there are ways to sort of find small deals. micro deals that are trying to shoot for the whole thing. we're trumping can meetings and everything in 2 days. you know, that's not going to happen. we can do small steps for, but again, that requires the north koreans to actually believe by maybe you know, and meet and the north grant that the willingness or show up and like put some stuff on the table. and i think that's what surprising is yours and just don't seem to want to do that. they're just launching and launching and launching. and that really quick clearing what message were supposed to take from that, right? i mean, just by want to meet without they're constantly firing. this'll probably enough time one'
