reporter: now senator mitch mcconnell emerged from the meeting, spoke to us outside here on the north lawn and implored republican senators to take up the vote next week which goes as follows. repeal obamacare, add on amendments and then let whatever happens come into effect in two years. the problem is for mcconnell right now he doesn't have the numbers to even get that the vote on to the floor but his message was for republicans to indeed allow that vote to happen. >> it will be fully amendable on the senate floor. if were to pass without any amendment at all, there is two-year delay before it kicks in. so the takeaway from what i'm telling you is, no harm is done by getting on the bill. reporter: melissa, a little bit of news here at off-camara white house press briefing from sarah huckabee sanders a little while ago, at what point because everything is stuck in neutral in this health care bill might they walk to move on to tax reform? at what point you know what? fully transition on to tax reform? at that point does it happen? sanders said to me, and i quote, i don't believe it has to

for quick words on that, let's check in with cnn's jeff zeleny who is on the north lawn.more do we know about these hearings next week? >> anderson, we know the senate judiciary committee would like to talk to paul manafort, the campaign chairman at the time and donald trump jr., the president's oldest son about that russia meeting in june of 2016. they have a hearing scheduled next wednesday for this to appear before the committee. they have not accepted the invitation just yet. lawyers for both men say they are reviewing the invitation, but that would be extraordinary, anderson. it's the first time someone from the president's inner circle would be called to publicly testify at something like this. and jared kushner kushner, who is also in on that meeting, he is scheduled and has agreed to appear before the senate intelligence committee on monday. that is going to be in a private session. the over two later in the week are scheduled, at least the hope is to be in a public session. but again, they have not accepted that invitation. and they aren't employees of the govern
