los angeles county tonight as another wildfire burns out of control. the hughes fire has already burned more than 9000 acres right near castaic lake, north of los angelesinterstate five. it started late this morning and tonight. so far, no structures have burned. 50,000 people remain under evacuation orders or warnings. two students are dead in a shooting at a high school in nashville, tennessee. officers say a 17 year old armed with a gun fired multiple shots inside the high school cafeteria. two students were shot. one of those students died from her injuries. the other student was treated and then released from a hospital. police say the teenage gunman shot and killed himself at the schoo prior to officers arriving on scene. the family of a 19 year old, shot and killed by a sunnyvale police last year has filed a federal civil rights lawsuit. police responded to 911 calls made by emmanuel perez becerra. they say an officer shot becerra after he refused commands to drop a knife he was carrying. the family's attorney says police should have tried less lethal options with that. you're watching ktvu, fox two news at 630, with the trump administration pro

all week. >> let's go. >> reporter: tonight a new fast-moving wildfire torching the hills north of los angeles. >> mandatory evacuation. >> reporter: forcing, everybodies in the town of castaic including both sides of interstate 5, jails and schools, sending students running. >> oh, [ bleep ]. >> reporter: the hughes fire igniting just after 11:00 and quickly exploding in size to more than 5,000 acres with zero containment. this neighborhood is under a mandatory evacuation order but instead of getting out many residents are doing this, hosing down their homes and property. >> my wife, my animals were ready to go. >> reporter: the fire fueled by single-digit humidity, bone-dry brush and strong winds, relentless conditions that have plagued southern california now for more than two weeks. >> how worried are you about all this? >> very. obviously. >> reporter: since the devastating eaton and palisades fires demolished more than 16,000 structures, tonight new red flag warnings leaving the county on high alert. as previous fire victims continue to struggle, now a new concern about identity theft. j

now the newest fire, the auto fire, is burning just north of los angeles in ventura. this is along a riverbed not far from a golf course. cal fire says it has gained control of that fire. and no homes are threatened. but the eaton and palisades fire fights are far from over. the eaton fire, still burning in altadena, has consumed more than 14,000 acres and is about a third contained. the largest fire in socal is still the palisades fire. it has scorched nearly 24,000 acres and is 14% contained. the fatalities from that fire remain at 24 confirmed deaths. this is due to the palisades and eaton fires. 23 people have been reported missing. more than 12,000 structures have been destroyed since the first fire started a week ago. we have team coverage on the still desperate situation. we'll check in with meteorologist kari hall, who is tracking the conditions for crews on the front lines. first, we want to start with today in the bay's jay gray. he's live for us on the front lines of the palisades fire. and, jay, we do know that those winds are expected to pick back up again

let's megan congressman whitesides whose district is north of los angeles cofounder of m magnifier actionirst organization dedicated to solving america's maga fire crisis. i know you been meeting with local leaders. what surprises you the most? what stuns you the most? >> it looks like a war zone and altadena and in the palisades. my heart goes out to every family that is lost their home in the treasured possessions. and of course the books of the lost lives have been injured. this is a very difficult moment for the history of los angeles. we will rebuild once we get to the very difficult next few days with the wind we will rebuild and help people rebuild their lives. jon: what you think is needed most right now? >> we are not out of the woods as reporters have been talking about we are concerned about the higher winds that may be coming up tonight. we are concerned up with a higher wind monday through thursday. were not through this yet. i think we have another almost a week probably to go before we are through this particular terrible incident. we have a lot of work on the other side bu

north of san diego. so you can see that there. the lilac fire, the fire. these are some of the new ones that ignited overnight. we're still monitoring containment around los angelesthose fires have been burning over the last couple of weeks. and you can see today we have extreme fire conditions just north of los angeles. and then around in that area around san diego where we're looking at some of these wind gusts that could be damaging and that very dry air as low as 2% in some locations. so we'll continue with red flag warnings as we go through the day today. these gusts up to 70mph. some of these gusts could get close to 100mph. and again, that relative humidity very low. we do have that particularly dangerous situation north of los angeles continuing until about 10:00 this morning on the west coast. this again, very rare warning that's issued for fire weather. and we've seen it several times this month because of just how extreme these conditions are. so powerful, damaging winds from those santa ana winds that we've been tracking over the last couple of weeks. santa ana winds kind of last through the week here. extremely low humidity as well. so we've got the
