in the head at a bus stop in north philadelphia last month. today police announced the arrest of her coworker randolph sanders. >> nbc10's tim furlong has new information tonight on how sanders was caught. >> nobody would shoot kim jones. nobody would shoot my mom. >> reporter: this young man never thought anyone would get mad enough to shoot his mom but police say her coworker did. sanders worked for kim jones at the center city nonprofit. when she found out he stole $40,000, she planned to turn him in. that's when sanders made his plan. >> he waited for her to come out of the house. laid in wait and then he ambushed her. >> reporter: police say sanders followed jones to her bus stop in north philly and shot her in the back of the head. they traced his steps through surveillance video. they linked his truck to the video, made the arrest and now say sanders has now confessed to the crimes. >> this is the type of investigation that leaves you both angry and con founded. one of the most egregious things i've seen. >> she was my friend. >> report

breaking this morning a 2-year-old girl in stable condition she fell out of a two story window in north philadelphia. it happened on the 1800 block of susquehanna avenue. the girl fell 12 feet. she was taken to hanheman hospital in stable condition. the incident is under investigation. >>> developing this morning a northeast philadelphia man is under arrest charged with killing a social worker who was waiting for a bus. the suspect not only new the victim, he was her could -- co-worker. kenneth moten has the story. >> reporter: one woman who dedicated her life to charity was executed at the northeast philadelphia backup. the man who killed her spoke "action news." john paul jordon's mother was at jefferson street gospel music playing on her headphones. surveillance video captured the man in disguise who walked up and shot the women in the head. the man is 36-year-old ran dove sanders. the nonprofit has a contract with the department of human services. sources say the victim suspected sanders stole money from the program and she was going to meet with dhs to turn him in. >> the fact that this guy's m

there are no delays out there especially north of philadelphia. as we look at storm tracker 6 live double scan we have a band of precipitation pushing toward the east. you see a lot of blue because surface temperatures are close to freezing, the same goes for philadelphia, especially to the north where we've got this issue. there could sleet mixing in or rain freezing up on untreated surfaces you can say sidewalks parking lots, secondary side roads that haven't been treated and overpasses. it may look like rain, but the road surfaces could freeze up. out to the west, drying followed by another little bit or piece of precipitation as we go through the day. nonetheless, even though the precipitation is light and spotty. there's a winter weather advisory into areas of south jersey and new castle county delaware and points north into the poconos. we're looking at light freezing rain, maybe sleet mixing in during the day. it is on and off later on tonight it could change over to light snow, the whole thing expires at 6:00 a.m. tomorrow. 36 in the city.

from manayunk to north philadelphia, here is a live look around 12th and norris streets in north philly. this is from storm force 10 right around temple university's campus. they're dealing with that same kind of ice as well. this is a very different kind of snow and storm we had earlier this week. earlier this week it was that light, fluffy snow you could brush it off of your cars. but as you saw in jesse's video just a moment ago, as you get up this morning and head outside and try to shovel that walkway, you're going to have to dig into that ice to clear it. weather has certainly affected flights at philadelphia international airport. earlier this morning, an airport official told us that the airlines have canceled about half of the early morning arrivals and departures. they are expected to resume a full schedule in about two hours from now, midday. if you have a flight that you're trying to head out on today, if you're leaving today, if you're leaving the area or picking somebody up at the airport, be sure to check with the airlines first for the status of that flight or you can al

snowrps trying to pop up -- snow showers trying to pop up out here by pittsburgh and areas north of philadelphia. as cool air comes in from the north arena west, some of this precipitation will have the tendency to changeover to snow showers and we expect a small accumulation at the tail end of this later in the afternoon and evening. a storm warning has been extended in northern montco and reading and the poconos. there's an advisory in southern bucks and montgomery counties because there could be the redevelopment of icy roads on account of the new precipitation coming in and the drop in temperatures. in terms of what happened in the overnight hours, 9:30 we had rain in wilmington with a little bit of ice mixing in. snow was beginning to fall in the northern and western suburbs. by 1:00 a.m. the rain had settled past wilmington and pushing into philadelphia. at 4:00 a.m. this morning, the rain was pushing past allentown although it took a while for it to start to melt all the snow that had piled up on roads. snow was not that much in the areas closer to i-95. philadelphia and hockessin under a

rosemary connors live at the scene of a break in north philadelphia. rosemary. >> reporter: let me show you what's happening on 21st street near allegheny avenue. you can see the water department crews are wrapping up their work here. they fixed the break that was in the line underneath of the sidewalk here. initially only a handful of houses were without water. water has been restored to everybody. this is the kind of weather that really poses a challenge to the philadelphia water department. by the end of tonight, they could come across at least a half dozen more water breaks in the sfep city. water department workers find themselves below ground on most winter days. this is their busy scene for water main breaks. they've responded to more than 180 leaks and breaks day and nights where the streets are often flooded. >> technically the water in the pipe plays a larger factor than the air temperature because the air temperature -- the pipes are typically set below the frost line in the street. >> it's too cold for them to be out working. >> reporter: n
